Lots of rumours about why he isn't playing, ranging from creative ones like trying to knock Nolan's block off to boring ones like a back injury.

Would have thought the simplest theory was the most plausible - Sam is a safety first-type of guy, and playing a teenaged loose cannon with zero first team experience in a promotion race with no latitude for error is the opposite of safety first. Suspect he was brought in as a "Sullivan special" rather than someone Sam actively sought out to help with promotion anyway.

I hate these 'boring yet highly accurate' answers, Ace.

If we could pick 7 subs I think we'd have seen a little bit more of him. Difficult to leave an experienced pro out for an unproven kid who does not naturally fit the system.

small comment about Ravel in Sam's article in evening standard (on friday)

Also...

George McCartney will be missing against Brighton tomorrow, which is a pity because, since we took him on loan from Sunderland, he’s been fantastic for us.

George took a nasty blow on the head against Birmingham and although he’s okay now, we can’t afford to risk him. Either Danny Collins or Matt Taylor will replace him. I’m not sure either that Julien Faubert, Joey O’Brien or John Carew will be fit but we still have a pretty decent and fit squad. In reply to some suggestions that I should play Ravel Morrison, I would also point out that he is also injured.

If Southampton clinch promotion on Saturday the game at Leicester will be a perfect oppurtunity to give Ravel a game if he's fit. If he's fit but doesn't feature I think it's obvious we're never going to see Allardyce pick him.

Sounds like Ravel likes a good drink. I can't see him playing any time soon if he continues to openly post things like this on the internet

I think you've read into that far too much. I'm sure most young footballers enjoy a drink

If it isn't the unverified bust-ups then it's the refusals to join in with gym classess, diets and detoxes.

This boy is a completely unverified loose cannon!

Alcohol isn't the only 'toxin' that can be found in the human body. You can go on a detox for any number of reasons. A young proffesional athlete might choose to avoid a detox for almost as many reasons.

That's right.

It could just as easily be cocaine or some other recreational drug he's trying to get rid of.... :D

I wasn't being 100% serious with that comment but I assure you that going on detox means not drinking any alcohol when used by youngsters

She's basically saying "I'm going to start eating well and am giving up alcohol. Fancy joining me?" and Ravel has declined

Nowadays most managers would see drinking as a problem. Some even have a 27/7 drinking ban in place. All I was saying is seeing as he's currently trying to impress the club opening posting stuff of this nature over the Internet may not be the best way to go about it

If he wants to get a game under Sam he certainly shouldnt post potentially inflamatory statements like "I'll pass" on twitter.
