and today of all days (bobbys aniiversary) makes it even clearer.....the boleyn is our home, we dont need to be the biggest or best in the country. i just want to be proud of my team.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVHave previously thought yes in the past but to echo other, there are to many unanswered questions so it's an unsure from me, but the more I hear the more i'm moving to a no, i'd rather stay and re-develop the Boleyn to 45,000.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVShouldn't even be a consideration if retractable seating cannot be put in place. Leaving the Boleyn would be a huge decision, leaving all the history behind. However, maybe what is needed if the club is ever to reach another level. A deal should of been in place before the stadium was even built to secure its legacy allowing forward planning to produce a stadium that would have been more better for football. I fear a lifeless, soulless olympic stadium. I also believe DS and DG have the club best interests at heard and im confident they will make the right decision either way.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVIt just wouldn't be Upton Park. So it's a no from me.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVI'm still siding with no, I am all for heritage and history but the transport links are abysmal, this will obviously be improved at the OS. I like to go for a reasonably priced beer or two and have a sing before the game...if it's all trendy wine bars then i'd rather stick with the Boleyn. If tickets are going to be cheaper then great but not at expense of the view and atmosphere. I can't see the OS working.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVI have changed my mind a lot over this and mainly been on the fence. But with all the bull **** of having the stadium, then having it taken away...then the long winded processes....i say b*llocks to it and make The Boleyn a bigger ground that's closed in.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVA big fat no from me! Been going to Upton Park for 30 years and now with my kids, I do not want t ochange. The views are likely to be horrendous, and whilst Upton Park has changed dramatically, it is our home!
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVInteresting trend already developing here - the effect of removing Tottenham from the process, perhaps.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IV
It appears the result is starting to look similiar to the second poll when spurs were not bidding!
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVI have never been in favour of this move - I think the lack of atmosphere will kill what makes West ham, and the Boleyn Ground special to so many of us
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVYes if done right, but thats looking less likely.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVSaid yes the first time round but with the now differing terms a big NO!
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVThe ability to provide retractable seats is the only issue stopping me from saying yes. Redeveloping UP makes no sense as the transport links are appalling, but rather that than a running track between me and my team.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IV
Or maybe it's because we'd be tenants rather than leaseholders ![]()
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IV
Fair point JBB... has been mentioned in reply a few times. Either way, I don't recall having seen an opinion poll swing back and forth to such extremes in such a short space of time...
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVI know many a voting out of sentimentality to stay at Upton Park, and why not. this has been our ground for 100 years so why change. Currently we have some of the highest gates in the football leagues including the PL, so it cannot be for more spectators ie money. I'm afraid that if we venture out of our comfort zone we'll lose our indentity, in a huge stadium that will have no atmosphere. We could end up with no ground at all if the landlords decide to up the rents every season. If we do go this has to be on a very very long tenancy, what guarantees are there for us to make this huge step into the unknown.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVTottenhams bid for the stadium last time around was a warning that if we dont occupy the stadium, we have no control over who does.
Infrastructure and transport to the stadium would be a vast improvement on Upton Park especially when considering the greater crowd numbers we would be attracting. I'm therefore in favour of the move on condition that lease agreements are favourable and stands can be brought pitch side (over the running track)
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IVIf we get a government subsidy like the spuds did, even better. That stadium WILL be a white elephant without us no matter who or how many other teams use it.
Come on Daves, make it happen.
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IV
15 years ago we had crowds of under 24,000 who would've thought we would sell 35k? We do well in the Premier League with 35k
How many years you've had a ST on this board determines your right to an opinion. Is that still the best you've got?
Re: The Olympic Stadium: Poll IV
That and the changes in terms, but yes the facination with Tottenham out of the picture has really got a lot of people off the yes bandwagon. Sign of how fickle we are? and how these polls can never be a true representation of fan opinion. results are swayed by current events. If they said they would severely modify the ground to suit football then I think there would be a lot more yes votes than no.
