It's amazing how many West Ham fans say this, while at the same time championing the fact we had 3 players in the side when England won the World Cup.

Dont post here much, so hope I am not intruding.
Different point of view on club v country here. When a player plays internationals his value increases as does his appeal to other teams, and he is in big shop windows. Its a little disingeneous to claim clubs get nothing imho

We should be proud when our players get a call up - and they should be proud too. Your attitude would result in only rich national football associations - that could afford to insure players - being able to call up their best players.

It's a time honoured West Ham tradition to have an important summer signing perma-crocked before the season starts so it's nice to see Mr Diame obliging us...

As time goes on that gets sadder and sadder.

I think it is the predictability and frustration of when these things occur.

3 times in the last 10 years we have seen key players succumbe to long term injuries on the eve of the new season whilst on international duty (James, Ashton & Hitz). It is the Ashton one that leaves the most bitter taste in my mouth as it was during training and completly screwed up our entire plan for the season.

I guess the Diame one is slightly different as firstly, we haven't spent the entire pre season with him in the first team as he has been away for most of it, and secondly it doesn't sound like its too serious - hopefully!

Chelmo

What is the latest, I have been trawling through google & the OS unsucessfully trying to find out?

Been away for the past 2 weeks without internet connection so its been a frustrating time without knowing what is happening, but I missed the hype of the new investor, Kaka, Carroll & Tevez, so a silver lining in that!!

I'm only really going by the story on KUMB that said it was a 'strain' and hoping for the best!

AH

Believe me you didn't miss that much about the Carroll, Kaka etc. speculations and the 60M new investor stuff.

Except a few smiles at those who even believed remotely that there was some truth in it....Meanwhile the knowledgeable amongst us knew it would be DJ Campbell and this Mohsni lad from Southend...

Cheers Gents for the updates.

Wish I was around for the twitter gossip last week, I would have believed it all and bought all 3 shirts with their names on them alongside placing my life savings on bogus West Ham shares to go with my bonds

AH

You would have only needed one shirt and the ability to get the names off with some Isopropyl Alcohol.

Sharpish.

Cuenca,

Or I could just have had

"Star Player's name here" on the back of my shirt, I could have kept it forever then and it would be current each and every window (save the strip design changes), whilst the Daves run the show.

Diame has travelled with the squad to Portugal so that should confirm he's fit enough to start the season.
