Bobby I have no reason to dispute your opinion of this player as I really know little about him.
One thing that slightly puzzles me though is if he is as good as you say, how come he was missing for nearly the whole of the last half of the season with Wigan? A period when their fortunes changed for the better.

Right, a bit like Green and Parker then?
Not sure dropping one of your best players when you are in a relegation struggle is the best policy but it worked for them.

Because he wouldn't sign a contract extension and they was aware that he was gonna walk in the summer to Liverpool without them getting a penny, but Dalglish getting sacked scuppered that.

And also because he was " injured " a bit too..

He did start 26 games last year though for them to be fair.

It's not just as straight forward as that is it.

He knew he was on his way, Martinez knew that he knew he was on his way so i guess Martinez questioned if he could pick a player that was 100% in it with them , which he couldn't trust or be sure that Diame was.

Also forgetting that his last match for Wigan was right before he left for the ACON, at which time McArthur stepped in and formed a good partnership with McCarthy. Also at that time they started playing with a 5/3 man back which took the third midfielder out of the equation for many of the matches.

Really hope it's not a bad injury. He will be important for us this season in front of the defence and giving us energy going forward.

I thought he was holding the side of his thigh, not the back. So hopefully just a dead-leg, not a hamstring.

The Sengalese football/olympic association should pay his wages until he's fit.

****ing international football is a joke.

I would have no problem with International football if the National football associations paid players wages from the time they leave their clubs to the time they return, fit and well.

You borrow something, then you return it in proper condition or you pay for it. Seems straightforward to me.

Spoken like a true child of sky's premier league. It's all about the £ for them, and you. Sport should be first and money making second.

We should be proud when our players get a call up - and they should be proud too. Your attitude would result in only rich national football associations - that could afford to insure players - being able to call up their best players.

It did occur to me it might be a dead leg, as he didnt go straight off. But think it is prob a hamstring, as not much in it to casue a dead leg.

I'll remind you of all that when we lose a couple during the ACON and we're struggling to field a decent side. Your money, my money, yes SKY's money too will be paying a West Ham player thousands of pounds to play abroad and we receieve nothing in return. I'd make international football amatuer. Then you'd see who really wants to play for the shirt.

If its all about the sport and the corinthian spirit of it all and these super-rich players are so proud of playing for their countries should pay their own wages whilst they are away on international duty and until such time until they are fit to return.

 mmmmmm... well let's hope it's nothing too serious.

Football in the Olympics... it's a bit like womens' beach vollyball

Sounds exciting, but when you watch it, you are left feeling a bit disapointed
