Well I had a cracking night with the East German Hammers and a few Dresden fans. Thanks to whoever recommended the little club near the ground, top stuff. Ended up in some Goth club afterwards...

Watched some of the live stream last night inbetween the Olympic malarkey. Have to say, some truly woeful defending on our behalf. Hate to be a cynic, and I know these are only pre-season games, but of we don't strengthen the squad in all areas I can't see anything past us propping up the table in the bottom 3 for the forthcoming season

Hope I'm proved wrong, but this is my feeling

Last nights performance was IMHO as bad as anything I've seen and we are in big trouble!

Presumably the only way BFS can get the Board to spend money on defenders is to field his worst and let them see us beaten 3-0 by a German 2nd Division team.
Good management.

Results really do mean nothing, especially if we look our past preseason records.

But there are things you can't ignore - two instrumental figures in midfield - O'Neil and Nolan, probably didn't make a successful pass in the entire game. We have put on our best strikers (Cole, Vaz Te, Maiga, Maynard) and we failed to score versus mid-table 2nd division club from Germany. I wouldn't be pointing this out but as we all know it, we had exactly the same problems throughout the entire Championship campaign and it doesn't look we're making these problems go away. Very little creativity. It might be true the result would have been different if we had Diame and Tomkins available but we've seen how poor our defense is without them. Counting on a defender whose career has been marred with injuries is not a path I'd recommend, especially in Premier League. I'm very sorry to say that but Demel, O'Brien, O'Neil and a few others are nowhere near PL material. Andy Carroll? Much needed but what's even more important - we need serious additions at the back. Right now I am a little scared what the upcoming season will bring.

I was very pleased with our style of the game, especially in the first 25 minutes. Was sad not to see Baldock come on, it seems that now BFS is scared to put him on as he might prove him wrong. :)

Watched a stream.. O'Neil looked ****. Bad day at the office or a sign of things to come? No idea.
Heard we're buying Kaka as a replacement though so all is well.

I thought we weren't that bad at all first half.

We fell to pieces when we put on Mohsni. One of the oddest performances I've ever seen.

Obviously Diame, Tomkins and probably Maiga strengthen the team.

Yep, we need some players.

I want Mohsni. We are so slow at starting the attacks from back four to midfielders/strikers. He has shown in last few matches that when he intercepts the ball, he goes into full speed mode and bring the ball to strikers in matter of seconds. I think that's what we lack and he does that best given the fact he can play as centre forward as well. But to have him as a regular in the defense? No way. One more advantage I see at him is in the situations when we're being a goal down in last 10 minutes of the game - it's easily to pull Taylor a bit more to defense and let Mohsni play up front - there you get a striker without making a sub.

However, after a screw up for the 2nd goal yesterday I doubt he'll ever wear claret and blue. My bet is even that he's already on his way to Southend.

Well that certainly puts a different spin on things. Obviously it was all part of the grand plan. BFS has got this management lark down to a fine art.

For all those saying we are going to struggle

OF COURSE WE ****ing ARE!!!

We are West Ham, we always have, nothing of note has really changed, therefore i don't really see what all the moaning is about, its just natural and until the so called sugar Daddy comes it always will be.

We are always **** in pre season and lets face it we are usually quite **** during the season. Really can't see what is different?

Ambition the root of all evil for a West Ham fan..fkcu me why not go out and slash out collective wrists now. Heaven forbid we should look to be above our lowly station in life.

Here's a thought, why not go to the PL and take voluntary relegation. I mean we obviously weren't meant to be up among the haves considering we would consider ourselves have nots.

I think that we need a good defender, of experience. it is true that games are still pre-season, but we give always the same stupid goals. The second goal, were embarrassing ..

Matty Taylor, the epitome of an aimless long ball.

Thank god he set up the first goal in the Playoff Final, because I reckon if that had never happened, I'd be after him! Headbanger

By all means, sub him on for a late freekick that could win a game, but **** me, he really isn't an open play footballer.

Aztec

Maybe we could implement similar rules to the NFL where we bring on the "specialist" for set pieces. Because other than that Taylor doesn't offer much. And before anyone mentions about a knee jerk after last night, I might have mentioned this on more than one occasion after people telling us he has more assists than anyone on the team. I asked how many from open play. I might still be waiting for an answer.

Wouldnt worry about the result. Once there is no injuries and the team get a good run out then its fine.

Just a thought but if things there were as ugly as has been suggested could the HT "discussions" have been an agreement to go through the motions to avoid the locals getting restless?
