But is it a waste of talent ?

Leave the money to one side for now... is it a waste of a young player like Adam Johnson ?

If he was 34 with dodgy knees then fair enough, warm the bench, get into big games for free and enjoy the glory,
but he is a fit young man so is he wasting his talent ..?
Or are Man City just keeping a hold on him so that he cannot use those skills against them in the Premiership ?

Blackburn hoovered up strikers a decade ago and ended up with a nice little stash of strikers who would never score against Blackburn Rovers.
Did they waste the talents of those players ? Probably...

For the record. He made 26 apps in the PL last season.

Useful off the bench with his pace and directness. I think he's used well by Mancini, not wasted.

It's an alternative viewpoint with some validity. I know he really likes Mancini, like virtually all their first team players. I get the impression its the same kind of rapport that Mourinho always seems to develop with his players.

Harry Kewell, although 20 goals in 60 apps for Galatasaray isn't bad.

RE Mascherano, I think it's far simpler than that. Can you imagine the size of the fine and the court battles if we had to defend fielding TWO illegal players?

I think our club was terrified of playing him, knowing that the deals that brought both he and Tevez here weren't exactly conventional...

Dos Santos is one of the most over-rated players around. Failed at Barca, failed in the Prem, even failed in the Championship.

Does anybody remember when GDS was flavour of the month after the World Cup 2010? He returned to Spurs, and they had him in the match-day squad for the first few games of 2010-2011? If he was all that good he would have sustained a place at Spurs, but instead he tanked, and has been out in the cold ever since.
