|Does exactly what it says on the tin - the forum for football-related discussion.
Another great post badgers1.
Whoever is making these decisions should **** off. Our away support should be encouraged at every opportunity not subject to penny pinching.
BTW no point asking the SAB to raise it - they'll have to set up an e mail chain, go through 24 staff and then wait a call from on high to talk about something else in 4 months.
So if we took full allocations at every ground the club could possibly lose the sum of one of our better players weekly wages over the course of a season.
Just about sums up where any clubs fans stands in order of importance.
good posts badgers, glad we can discuss this in the 'general discussion' board
in regards to chelsea and southampton, i can forsee a lot of people being left disappointed and missing out on these two even if the club take the full allocation so they better not **** those up and take the largest allocation possible. I think iI have enough PP to get tickets for both on a selfish note
ps. Don't we have fans forums with Brady and other senior staff within the club during the season? why is noone bringing this up during these or has this already been discussed?
Total absolute worst case scenario of £53k for the whole season against the goodwill that creates with our away supporters (btw do you travel away?) plus the increased support the team receives away, which might generate one positive result. One place in the PL generates an extra £800k.
Exactly. Better financial management is great but if done short sightedly this is where it becomes smalll minded penny pinching that missess the bigger picture.
The really sad is that the club doesn't seem to realise just how special our away numbers are for a club our size...just look at last season !
The allocations taken are an embarrassment to our great fans
Stop grizzling, get together collectively, and approach the club,on how you intend to gurantee
the money match by match for 2000 away tickets, victims go ignored be positive
Its not the most difficult assignment you will undertake,DO IT
Collect £10k every away match should be adequate
Are you having a laugh ?
Have you noticed that everyone is moaning about the price of tickets already....
The club are more than happy to charge £1.80 booking fee for away tickets, surely that in itself would cover the cost of any unsold seats.
If they continue cutting allocations it will put quite a few of trying for away tickets in the future, don't see any benefit.
Oh and this Debbie Silver, she was working under Brady at Birmingham pulling the same stunt.
This is West Ham though and one thing we can always take pride in is our our support.
1400 for a Saturday 3pm that distance is pony & embarassing, sort it out West Ham.
as a supporter of nearly 50 years i have fantastic memories of epic away games, sadly now living far away from UP travelling to home games is a 340 mile round trip and feels like an away although i manage this 14 or so times a season, for this reason I no longer have a season ticket but a membership that with low away allocation and sell outs prohibit us from getting near away tickets despite many of the teams we play being nearer to me than UP. The situation is so bad I dont even try for away tickets but would love to have the opportunity.Could we not have an advanced option of purchases say one at the start of the season, and one at xmas, with season ticket holders getting priority and a further tranch being offered to members, that could be paid for well in advance so the club dont lose money. surely there must be a better way that would be financially beneficial for the club better for travelling fans and ultimately the team with increased away support.
Good posts Badgers and Brown Out. The SAB should be all over this as it's clearly a matter that is causing unrest amongst the clubs travelling supporters and others with an understanding of what the club is about.
My sentiments pretty much reflect most on here. Doesn't feel much like a club anymore does it.
As bobby said, they're strangling the life out of our best supporters.
We've already decided not to renew our memberships for next year, not entirely what being a member means anymore, apart from loyalty cash cow. If they can treat our away support as they do, what's next?
Why hasn't anyone raised this at the SAB meetings already?, mouthpiece of the fans or a tool to whip the fans with?
Apologies to those SAB members that give a ****, but I bet some members are like traffic wardens with a new uniform.
There is no point in raising matters at SAB meetings .I've tried .I've been told by the hosts the idea was good , told they would look at it , and then ............nothing .
On the specific issue of away tickets , I only recognise one other person on the SAB who is an away STH and only three others who are regular away match attenders .
I appreciate the reply pinkie, I respect your efforts. Given your record for away attendance which I believe you posted the costs on here, I hope you dig in and dont give up. If they can ignore you or use the "popular" vote to divide support, well, kinda says it all really about the "club".
Getting Mr Brown back as an advisor on these matters, is when West Ham lost its respctability with their fans. I wish a few more had been around long enough to remember his benevalent rapport with the real supporters.
As somebody who fortunately has a regular opportunity to wind up my very good friend Mr Badgers1, I am immensely pleased that he has posted this thread as it's dear to my heart as well. Well done to BSB1 for irritating him though but be careful with the old boy, he's a treasure to us all in Stratford.
On a serious note though, He's bang on, as usual, and for me, this is one of the main issues the club needs to grip. We can all yabba on about the OS or a new East Stand (ho ho ho), but we have a quality away support that spends great amounts of time and money on following our ususally useless football team about the country. Don't alienate this set of supporters.
I'm in the neutral enclosure on Wednesday, it ain't gonna be too neutral though...
Brown has many faults, but in fairness most of the time I think he understood the benefits of encouraging away fans to travel.
Behave his head will get bigger!
