He brings something different for sure, but in this team that something different would be out weighted by the negatives he brings to our play.

One way of looking at Andy Carroll, and his time at the club, is to note that he was the signing of not just our last coach, but the (permanent) one before that.

He played under Moyes, but on an off and on basis.

Bilic used him to good effect, in the first season he was here, but Allardyce signed him, for a team that had just chalked up a reasonably decent first season back in the big time.

At that point, Nolan - long a friend and even mentor for Andy - was the captain. The team had a more 'British lads plus others' edge to it.

Pellegrini wouldn't have dreamt of signing him for Manchester City. Even having come down several (half a dozen?) notches in spending power and reach, I still fail to see the likelihood of the new gaffer being interested in signing him, if, for instance, he was coming to the end of a contract at another club.

We're only really even talking about him during the yawning chasm of yet another inters break.

He's yesterday's man, really.

forget him he does not fit into how we play now.

we do have problems in the striking area as apart from arnie we have a lot of disappointing players

Hernandez - injured most of the time now, cant play on his own up front. 30 and on big wages. sell 10m ?
perez - done nothing during limited time on the pitch. looks useless last minute signing. sell 5m
carroll - always injured carthorse. out of contract in the summer19. sell jan 5m
Antonio - too bulked up, knackered after 15 mins, useless in front of goal, poor touch, lacks effort. sell 10m

silva - 20 signed in summer 18. good start to u23. now injured. not played in premier league.
Martinez - on loan. slow and looks lost above u23 level. sell 3m

so we need a striker or two if we sell the dross we have .

The worrying thing about those four is how much they must be earning between them. When you add Arnie to the equation, our strikeforce must cost around £400k a week for what is ultimately one position.

He'll play his obligatory 4 games in Nov/Dec before getting a suspension mid-Dec, and injuring himself just in time to enjoy a quiet Christmas & New Year at home with his family. He'll play another 4 games in February/March, and that will be the last we see of him.

If Arnie goes off after 75 mins having played a blinder there’s not many strikers we have I’d rather bring on against spurs. Hope he is fit again

I’ve not heard anything to suggest he’ll be back in the next couple of weeks or even month?

I think it was a number of months but nothing specific, add to that he always seems to take longer than expected.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see him until December or even early next year!

Me neither but I'd rather see him coming off the bench than Chico or Perez or Antonio... the only exception perhaps would be that young lad

Him and Reid were both reportedly out for three months at the time of them getting injured on a pre season trip.
Recent quote on his fitness from Physio Room...
"Working in the gym and on the pitch. We hope he will recover as quickly as he can, but he will need a couple more weeks."
That would suggest maybe the Spurs cup game...

BTW... his 'Physio Room' page is a sight to behold...

I thought Reids injury was against Swansea and it was a nine month injury.

Didn't they allegedly run from a wild boar loose in the hotel and tumble out of a window whilst pissed off with a kiwi that had nicked all his vodka and charlie.

Some of that might not be true.

Initially yes, with a setback occurring on a pre-season tour.

we have too many long term injuries with reid and carroll accounting for a large amount. Hernandez is also missing too many games.

carroll - 30, sell in january if we can and he is not injured again otherwise his contract is up in the summer. do not renew.
reid - sell 30 now and injury prone for several years. when fit and on form a very good defender but that has gone now. time to move him on . 5-10m
hernandez - 30 and doesnt fit our system when fit. sell in january 10-15m

CB -we have diop balbuena ogbonna. rice can cover but he is needed in midfield. another CB needed.
CF - we have arnie. no proper cover for him if we sell the above sicknotes and perez who has been poor. another CF needed. should be young and pacey.

selling Reid and/or Carroll - it is a non starter.

neither have played a minute this season. both are returning from long term injuries.

who is going to pay one penny for either player ?

no one is going to take that chance at all imvho. not even at subsidised wages.

the summer will be the first opportunity to move either one on.
