Re: Andy Carroll
Moving Carroll on isn't the big problem, trusting the owners to replace him with someone decent is what we all are really afraid of.

Re: Andy Carroll
Hernandez isn't sticking around, nor is Sakho, so if we do manage to shift Andy, we're going to need to find 3 more strikers. Which will mean one expensive (but not necessarily top tier), one old (cheap to buy, but on big wages), and one complete unknown from South America for £30.

Dinosaur in the modern game. The game has moved on. Now, we're looking like we're moving on.
Sincere thanks, but I hope he finds a club elsewhere.

The question is, is he too expensive and too injury prone to persist with.....I’d say he probably is.

Re: Andy Carroll
Carroll can be useful, but only in games where we will have a fair amount of possession or as a super sub when we have a team under pressure chasing a goal.Hammer83 wrote:We look so much better without him standing there back to goal offering no movement.I have enjoyed watching us break out with the pace and power of arnie and Antonio on the counter these last 4 games, and long may it continue.I put him last in the pecking order behind Chico and Sakho and Antonio for the lead man.
Get rid do not even think of taking up the 2 year option on his contract.

I would like to think that most people have the intelligence to work out that different players have different qualities that are valuable at different times.

Re: Andy Carroll
I’ve been long in the thought that he’s only really to be played from the start if an opponent has a clear weakness. However, I’d certainly not be desperate to cast him aside midway through a season where we remain desperate for points. He’s a good sub to have, and I’d also not choose to give a rival the chance to use him well.
Move him on at the end of the season, mainly for the sake of wages.
He may also be one who benefits from our better attacking qualities lately, too. Unfair to say everyone else has had the chance to improve but claim it couldn’t be the same for Andy. He’d certainly look better with Arnie, Lanzini and Masuaku in their current guises getting close and supporting

If he had applied himself as a footballer he could have played for anyone. Bit of a muppet really.

Can't say im bothered if he does or not. If we want to progress, then this liability of a footballer needs to go.Bonzos4Lagers wrote:

Everton, Stoke or Back to the geordies in January please.

Re: Andy Carroll
Certainly not first chose anymore. He'll be lucky to start a PL game again this season. Ship him off in the summer if we can find anyone. If not then to the glue factory he goes!

Re: Andy Carroll
He didn't join us for the long term. He came here to advertise himself so a "big" PL club would pick him up. I've seen very little from him to suggest he perceives us as anything more than a stepping stone.thejackhammer wrote:Why is Hernandez not sticking around?

 Good luck with that Bubbs!
IMO, Carroll is still a mighty weapon, when used at the right time.

Well said , Bubbs .bubbles1966 wrote:I would like to think that most people have the intelligence to work out that different players have different qualities that are valuable at different times.
Andy Carroll has a part to play at West Ham .
How much would we get for him anyway , £10m tops , if that ?
He's worth more to us as a late sub .

Re: Andy Carroll
Pay him the wage we do for being injured most of the time, and if we use him from the bench, he is like a cart horse, that is now how we play now, I would take £10 million Any Day as he will only go down in value, and no way if he lasts so long renew his contract, we can do much better!

Re: Andy Carroll
On the basis we pick up a decent points haul by early Jan I think he will be off on a free to Newcastle United in Jan.

Re: Andy Carroll
We'll see how he goes against Arsenal

I'm guessing he'll last twenty minutes before a mysterious 'injury' gives him Christmas and New Year off, and by that I mean on the lash in Bigg Market.
