I'd argue that was always present last season but some solid performances in big games helped people overlook the obvious negatives he brought to the table with attitude and switching off.
Huddlestone, Noble and Nolan? I didn't think it could get much less mobile or slower, but you've managed it!

We are desperate for someone who can carry the ball and get box to box. Ramires/Toure type but obviously on our budget. N'Zonzi does that on a much lesser level.
Sure, we could use that type and that was what Diame looked like when the scouts were watching, but is it a necessity given we by pass the midfield more often than not? Huddlestone reads the game pretty well, protects the ball pretty well, can take set pieces, and compliments Noble if one were to go forward. You can't throw one quick midfielder in a midfield three and expect it to speed up the play of the entire team.

Missing that England squad really seems to have knocked him.

Two kinds of pace, one without the ball and one with.

Noble made it happen for the opening goal, short memories a lot on here seem to have.

Don't get me wrong. I rate the lad but his form seems to have dipped a bit since that squad was announced.

Woeful tonight.

Prior to this season I was very critical of him, but ive changed my opinion of him and would get my vote for HOTY.

Tonight he slipped back into the player that has drove me nuts over the the years. :thdn:

The team have been poor for two games, at home, in a row. The football has been poor, Noble is a proper footballer, if we attempted to play football I'm sure we'd see a better Mark Noble. At somewhere like Arsenal he'd flourish.

He's not a world beater and should be in the England squad ahead of Gerard

He's also not a muggy twat who we should sell.

Couple of extremes, , the point being he's a good servant whose been an excellent consistent player at this club for years regardless of the turmoil of this club.

Not his best performance tonight, but he slotted a great pen, I love the little bloke and will be devastated the day he no longer runs out with the shirt on

Given our captain's lack of mobility, it could be because he's running for two.

The eagle eyed among us will once more be looking to bring him down by citing the occasional loss of possession.

Seems odd that a couple of centre-halves (ie: Caulker & Shawcross) would appear in that top metreage table.
I think I might question that, but if true it puts their respective mid-fields to shame !

Agreed ..still pains me at times when he floats those corners over though...today he tried a flatter delivery if I'm not mistaken but it lacked some weetbix, but yes again great run and penetration.
