Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Imagine how many goals he would have scored for a team that gets given penalties. Such a brilliant penalty taker and playing for a team that went on the longest penalty-less streak in premiership history

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
The man is living my dream. Would never knock him for doing so, and to play as well as he has in our improved side......
Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Sorely missed today.
All of his organisation, his vocal leadership, his off-the-ball work and his bottle.
We just felt rudderless in midfield and our shape suffered.

Completely agree that we were crying out for someone like Noble today.

Think today and Brighton safely puts to bed the crackpot theory that somehow we are better off with athletic lumps in the middle of the park instead of footballers.

Expect better from you, Tristan. Not the same posters saying both things!Tristan Shout wrote:He plays and his legs have gone, he doesn't play and he's amazing
His legs haven't gone - he never had any. He's slower than I'd like, doesn't play enough killer balls and doesn't score enough.
But he is an intelligent player who retains possession and has grown into his role as captain, organising the midfield and doing a lot of work off the ball, including dropping into defensive space.
I would never disrespect him.

I've given him criticism in the past, but right now, he's the best deep lying midfield player we have.

I don't even think this is complimentary of Mark knowing how bad Obiang and Kouyate are.Burnley Hammer wrote:I've given him criticism in the past, but right now, he's the best deep lying midfield player we have.

This! Of course Mark has his limitations, he's never pretended otherwise. But his qualities, eight times out of ten, more than make up for his shortcomings, and continue to be an under-appreciated asset that so often provides the heart beat behind our best performances.Smonnie wrote: Expect better from you, Tristan. Surely you must have seen the benefit of Noble in recent games when he has and has not played? Surely you have followed or played the game long enough to see the difference?Tristan Shout wrote:He plays and his legs have gone, he doesn't play and he's amazing

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Lost 3-0 with Noble in midfield at Newcastle so it largely proves the opposite.miles wrote:Think today and Brighton safely puts to bed the crackpot theory that somehow we are better off with athletic lumps in the middle of the park instead of footballers.
Could have done with a Right Back who could run yesterday. Goalkeeper was too far over for the free kick and Hernandez is ****ing awful outside the box.

f*** me do we miss him. Someone to put their foot on the ball and calm everyone down instead of this panicky headless chicken style football.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Swap Kouyate for Noble in the last two league games and I honestly believe we'd have got four points. That says more about Kouyate than Noble but I think our captain is the best central midfielder we have.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Considering we were meant to be pushing on 18 months ago I'd say yes, nothing against Noble as I still think he's a very good footballer, but you'd have hoped that we'd have been able to sign a top class player to play alongside side him and no doubt help his game too.
A thirty year old Michael Carrick would have looked finished in our team.

Re: Mark Noble - West Ham Legend
Turned the tide of the game for us today. Constantly showing for the ball and then moving it FORWARD!! It's amazing how much more threatening a team can be when that happens. Obiang and Kouyate were terrible.

Completely changed the game for us second half. An absolute West Ham legend for me
