Anyone know how he got on? Really hope it works for him and us over there, especially as he could have been a European champion in his age group

They didn't concede and he played cb for about 70 mins of football.

And their fans seem to think he was good but the games were a poor standard in general.

Good sign...hopefully this means he is at least in their plans and will be around the first team squad this season

Bumped in to his Nan again on the way from from work last night; she went out to watch the tournament at the weekend. According to her, he is still really enjoying the experience and as we know is getting game time, nothing much different to what she said last week but she did make a comment that stuck with me. "if nothing else, this experience will make him grow up" Does make you wonder if the ego had taken over a little, particularly with his Reading experience.

I'd say less ego, more the transition into adulthood.
You live away from your family for a while, taking care of yourself, washing, cooking, the generally mundane aspects of life that kids are oblivious to, become more important.
Obviously he'll still have help with a lot of it, but that detached independence does usually trigger a maturity, sometimes against your will.

Good interview here with him talking about how he's settled in at Gladbach, what he wants for them this season, how he sees himself fitting in in the set up and so on. He's a bit...well, young I guess, and it comes over almost as a kind of relaxed/laid back kind of attitude. https://twitter.com/borussia_en/status/ ... 2615870464

I love how the final question is about talking German and he leaves with a "ciao!"

in my experience with german relatives (though that maybe a local thing) they like to use ciao to say goodbye to one another

I especially enjoyed the "No Spurs, no!" part

I think it's tschau in German? May be wrong though. He comes across quite bashful but friendly in that interview. For people that can't be bothered to watch to it, he says he opted to skip the U19 tournament England won in order to settle in better at Borussia.

He will captain us to FA Cup glory one day. With Burke and Rice either side of him and Cullen just in front.

If there's 1 position on a pitch we specialise in, it's producing Centre Halves.

I haven't seen anything of his pre season games so far, how is he performing out there?
