Harry Kane (non WHU)

Postby Sloffy on Sat Mar 28, 2015 10:57 am

Ok, this is NOT an anti Tottenham post

I always like to see English players come good, and even tho hes Spurs, it was nice as an England fan to see him net on his England debut last night.

BUT.............

Is it just me that thinks hes a very lucky player? A lot of the goals he scores - like last nights, which wasn't a particularly good header - seem to be going his way. Against us, he was really poor, got a debatable pen, missed it and got lucky with the rebound. Just seen on SSN hes been credited with a goal that clearly was an og last week.

Some would argue its good to be lucky - but will it run out? I don't want to like him cos hes Spurs, but I do want to like him cos hes English and young, but Im not convinced.

This is an honest Kane opinion, not a dig at Spurs so like minded replies only guys

Whats your thoughts on him?

I think he's an excellent footballer , in fact he will only get better , he's got great feet and knows how to head the ball , he's a clinical finisher - I only wish he was ours .

I think hes a good player - his style is akin to Sheringham or Dean Ashton - I just think he gets very lucky a lot of the time.

Its been asked would I want him in my team. I'll turn it around, would you swap him for Sakho ?

What's he scored? Something like 35 goals in all competitions this season isn't it?

That to me would suggest it's a little more than 'luck'.

I'd swap him for Sakho, Carroll and Valencia.

Yeah, maybe the closest thing to Ashton we've seen since SWP ruined everything.

I was there to see him score his 1st goal for England... The 1st of bundles!

If you wouldn't swap him for Sakho?? Behave yourself.

Instinctive goal scorers spend their careers 'getting lucky'.

Getting yourself in those positions is as valuable a skill as there is in football. Its why a man with no discernible ability with a football, Filippo Inzaghi, scored 300 goals and won nearly everything in the game.

He knew where to stand and he worked hard. Sometimes it's enough.

Looks like Im wrong about him ( or Im right and you're all wrong lol )

I still think a lot goes his way. He may make a career out of that, or he may get found out in time. Only time will tell.

Someone said the harder I work the luckier I get.
Kane and Sakho are bloody hard workers.
If it is ok, I will keep both of them.

I just don't see what all the hype I about personally. A lot of scuffed and shinned shots have found the back of the net for him. Would need to see that he isn't a one season wonder before hailing him as England's saviour.

As Gary player the golfer once said " the more I practice the luckier I get" he is having a brilliant season, and seems quite level headed, it now all depends on Levy, as to whether he wants to cash in on his success now or in the future!

I really rate .
Been watching him for a few years(CC and Europa) and always thought he'd make the grade(,even after being loaned out).
Yes, he gets lucky but every great goal goal scorer I have ever seen did that.
I just hope we can keep hold of him for as long as possible

Wait till this time next year.

If he is still cracking them in at his current rate then fair play to him.

There have been plenty of one season wonders, and currently that's what he is.

That's what I see. He could be the next Inzaghi / Lineker. He could be the next Marcus Stewart.

I just remain unconvinced at the mo

It's been said on here a few times now, if you work as hard as he does then its not luck.

It's whether he carries on working that hard every game that will determine whether he carries on like Rooney or gets comfortable like Adebayor.

Gutted that he's at Spurs, but happy that he's playing for England.

to me he just looks like a player who's more interested in scoring goals than upping his fifa stats or getting a bumper advertising deal. knows how to find them too.

england have had players in recent years who run hot and cold until their youth starts to run out and their form and confidence goes out the window. kane seems like a player who can sniff them out the same in league two or the world cup. wouldn't call him a genius or anything, more like a dog who always knows how to get home.

had to be a spud didn't he? excuse me while i go brush my teeth.

Can't work out if he's any good or just enjoying a mega rich vein of form, next season is the true test for him in my eyes.

I consider myself one of the most anti spud fans around. But some of the nonsense regarding Kane being lucky is laughable.

I agree with this. Imagine if Wilshere had the same drive and determination.
