For all the praise that Arnie gets up front this guy is just as important imo

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
He has been playing well since he came back from after the operation and last injury.
Adrian - Ogbonna - Noble - Arnautovic
When that spine plays well, we are good enough for this division.

The potential of a great partnership with Rice.
Without question POTY after Arnie.

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
We have one of the worst defences in the league, and will possibly end up conceding as many as we did under Avram.
Ogbonna has been our best defender since December, and was comfortably the pick yesterday of our three CBs but enormous change is required throughout the back 8.
If we stay up, it won't be their doing.
We've only managed two victories all season against teams outside the bottom 6. Any sentiment that involves sticking with the same defensive and midfield core is basically an enabler for the board.

I agree Bubbles, huge changes are required but for me he is one of a few who is clearly good enough

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
Massive decisions ahead. The squad needs overhauling but will there be funds to buy (say) 6 players
without selling a few? My guess is the "DoF" will offload Lanzini and Oxford to fund it (but I've no idea really,
just my usual cynicism)

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
Yesterday Rice, Ogbonna, and Cresswell looked well drilled, mobile and solid. We still desperately need a defensive midfielder, but Noble and Fernandes looked a lot more solid and Mario helped out linking defence and attack especially in the first half.

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
Having players like Musuaku back, who can carry the ball and relieve pressure, helps massively but Ogbonna has been brilliant at times this season, we need to keep him. I was a huge critic a year ago but that's before I knew he was playing with an injury. With Reid always injured keeping the Ogmonster is an absolute must.

That's where I'm at with it. Ogbonnas been better of late although for me Rice was by far our best defender yesterday. He dictates to the others not the other way around.
The defence needs sweeping changes, it's currently shocking and has been for some time since Allardyce. 2 quality CBs, 1 RB and possibly a new left back.
Ogbonna running Arnie close for HotY? Not a chance. Arnies actually pissed it from everyone.

Arnie will probably get it but Oggy is way out in second for me. I cant even think who could possibly be close to those two.Colours never run wrote:

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
Which is why we need to give Mario serious consideration rather than a bunch of Sulli specials. We need a serious clear out of the dead wood to partly fund some quality signings.Peaches wrote:Yesterday Rice, Ogbonna, and Cresswell looked well drilled, mobile and solid. Re: Angelo Ogbonna
Toilet. Have never rated him and always been baffled at some of the praise. Gave him a break after what we thought was carrying an injury of some sorts but he's permanently in that state it seems.
Turning circle of a tractor, slower than Ginge without the commitment.
Doesn't read the game.
Dragged through most 90 minutes by whoever his partner at the back is.
Wasn't helped tonight by Masuaku who does well to be even worse at defending than this clown.
The much maligned Fredericks must wonder why the likes of Masuaku and Ogbonna can perform like blind people and get defended week after week for it when he's new to the prem and we could really have done with some more minutes to help him settle and take the pressure of Zaba, inject some pace into that side of the pitch.

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
If anyone had seen the game tonight but had never seen him play before, they'd probably just note the date that all the praise at the top of the page was on.
Something just ain't right with the bloke.

Re: Angelo Ogbonna
Last season he looked good in a back 3 maybe he had 2 covering him but he looks so casual that he looks uninterested
