Re: Michail Antonio
not saying getting pulled is an indication of a bad game
Diopp was much better
Cresswell had as good of a game and for 45 minutes Fredericks was really good...

No, its called analysing the game. The bloke has been tremendous this season and has improved so much, but you can still comment on the not so good things he does in a match.Mr.Miklosko wrote:
Are we really focusing on missed chances after a MOTM performance and a goal?

Re: Michail Antonio
Another fantastic performance again tonight. Definite MOTM.
I was front of the queue shouting at him for how lazy and unfit he seemed up until a month or so ago, and I stand by those thoughts... But Jesus, he has obviously worked bloody hard and looks like that cracking player from a couple years ago again.
When he plays well off the wing, he also stops Hernandez looking so isolated and frustrated, which is a massive secondary bonus of Mike’s current form.

Love him to bits but he is so frustrating. Hit and miss with his passing and shooting. Work rate has really improved though. Iron mike.

Re: Michail Antonio
I agree, he’s lost so much weight and much more ‘agile’. Kept tripping over his own feet before January and a a yard short of early pace. Has his drawbacks but always puts in a shift and a handful for the opposition even when he has a bad game. Full marks to Pelle for sticking with him, I just hope he gets a decent run in a position that suits him rather than filling in all over the place. If so I can see him improving again and bagging several more. However when Yarmalenko is fit, he may get fewer starts which will not help his game.Georgee Paris wrote:Without a shadow of doubt he is back to his best.

I thought he was superb. Didn't put a foot wrong.
He is as good now as he was when he got his England call up

The Beast is back. Terrorized them tonight and thoroughly deserved that brilliant goal.

Sky propaganda to parachute him into the next England squad.Vic_Watson wrote:Not sure how they came up with Dec for the MotM. Weird one.

I'm not his biggest fan but he did have a good game. Seemed more aware of his surroundings and looked up more which resulted in a few good passes untypical of him. Just needs to work on his slide passes and through balls a bit as they're a little off.

Re: Michail Antonio
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than a player I had written off proving me wrong
He is certainly back to his best. His improvement started really when he came off the bench during our 1-0 defeat to Sp*rs. But since December he has turned it up a notch and is now chipping in with goals and assists. Which is especially needed with the other players failing to chip in with enough goals (Anderson & Arnie excepted).
I think one turning point for him is when Yarmalenko got injured he probably assumed he would walk straight into the side. But he was playing so badly and with the surprise emergence of Diangana, that must of really knocked his ego knowing he is behind a 20 year old in the pecking order.
As good as he was yesterday I didn't think his partnership with Fredericks was as good as it was with Zabaleta.
It's not a dig at Frdericks as minus 2 rash moments mid-way through the 2nd half I thought he played well. I just don't think they work well together as they are kind of similar players in terms of how they like to run and carry the ball. I think personally if you are going to play either player you have to match them with an intelligent player to play alongside them. As both their decision making is suspect at times.
So if you are to play Fredericks at rightback I would go with Yarmalenko in front of him when he is fit. As he is a smart player that'll know where to position himself and where to run. We had a few exciting sneak peaks of this in pre-season I thought and even a tiny hint at The Emirates early in the season when Yarmolenko came off the bench.
And if Antonio is to play he is probably better off with the intellgent and more defensive minded Zabaleta.

Re: Michail Antonio
He has come on leaps and bounds
Yesterday his ball control at times was excellent... he even is now putting in some dangerous balls into the box
He has become an important player... well done to him

'ouston - maybe something was not coming through on TV, but in the stadium I assure you he was the best player out there. And for the first half hour looked the only one of ours who actually had limbs and brain connected.
