Come on Ozza call it as it is. We all know Carroll wouldn’t get that level of abuse if he had short hair like Antonio. It is disappointing that our fans cannot accept our players for who they are. It is like the 1970s.Ozza wrote:Carroll gets battered on here (rightly so), for his mistakes the other week, Iron Mike gets (in the most), a free pass, double standards if you ask me

Re: Michail Antonio
Surely that's the difference between a player and a good player, consistency. I have said on here before that Antonio has the physical gifts to be anything he wants to be as a footballer, but unless he can get his nut right and be switched on from 0-97mins he's only ever going to be this years Matthew Rush. He didnt play to the whistle on Saturday, a capital offence at 2-1 up and 96 mins.Antonio has been disappointing this season - although he's certainly not the only one. The trouble for Iron Mike is that he has set the bar so high over the last two seasons, the slightest dip in form is magnified hugely.
And the bar for that position is currently set by Andre Ayew, and big Mike is way below that level currently.

My point was far more with regards the reaction of senior pros in the squad who were interviewed after.

Re: Michail Antonio
No question it was an awful, terrible mistake but it was a bit out of character & he doesn't normally do things quite as bad as that.
It was magnified by what happened next.
We have to respect the point. We didn't play well enough overall to deserve all 3 & could have SO easily left with none.

Re: Michail Antonio
That's the biggest issue with me on that incident. Antonio loses the ball regularly and so that was not such a big surprise it was very stupid but sh1tt happens and players can make mistakes. However whenever you see Mark Noble lose the ball he chases the length of the pitch snapping at the heels of whoever is on the ball to get it back and I would have expected similar from Antonio. Was it due to injury that he couldn't get get back, bad attitude due to ego or possibly he's just tired and frustrated with his and our situation but whatever it was I expected a lot more from him.Aceface wrote:
That doesn't even cover the full extent of it. He was also playing as the right-most defender, which is precisely the area Zaha ultimately ended up jinking through while he was caught upfield. Definition of FUBAR.

He didn't do an interview, Joe Hart did it and was boiling with anger. Noble was filmed having to be restrained by everyone around him as he was trying to attack anyone, Sakho the big forward for the Nigel's was in the firing line at that point, as Mark is pulled aside by Tomkins, then walks off and he then makes this statement to the assistant manager "he's thick, all he needed to do was take the ball to the corner".

Mark Noble would never have lost possession in that situation. He would have executed the 'Mark Noble, feel a slight push in the back and dive over the ball" procedureHarry Hound wrote:

Because he isn't thick

Sorry if this has been posted before, but has anyone seen this BTSport HardestHits thing? Inviting lots of sportspeople to smack one of those arcade punch bags, and are keeping a leaderboard, with our big lad currently at the top of the charts. He's got an absolutely evil right hand on him:

Notice Gerrard isn't too high up the table. Presumably he saves his best for when he's defending himself and his mates against lone blokes in nightclubs.

Can't help thinking if he hadn't had that moment of madness in last minute of Palace game, maybe super Slav would still have a job at West Ham. A win would have given us a lot more confidence going into the Liverpool game and who knows maybe we would have come out of it with a better result.

Not sure mate noise is tha5 he tried to resign twice but they didn’t have a replacement, the contrac5 thing, it was always going to happen, you could argue with the international break the plan was always to do it nowneathiron wrote:Can't help thinking if he hadn't had that moment of madness in last minute of Palace game, maybe super Slav would still have a job at West Ham. We'd still have the injuries we have and it would only have prolonged his tenure until the next tonking, which is coming soon.neathiron wrote:Can't help thinking if he hadn't had that moment of madness in last minute of Palace game, maybe super Slav would still have a job at West Ham. Wish he had hit the ball in the 97th minute against Palace as hard as that towards row Z......DasNutNock wrote:Sorry if this has been posted before, but has anyone seen this BTSport HardestHits thing? Seeing he has openly “liked” a paper headline about club being a shambles. His injury seems slightly mysterious as well. Wouldn’t be surprised if he jumped ship in a World Cup year he has an outside chance if playing in a decent team. His only chance to get to a World Cup at 28

This geezer is absolute toilet
What has he done for the last 18 months apart from sulk at RB and stroll around nonchantly when he hasn't got the ball

I don't understand what people see in him that I'm not. He was excellent the first season he broke through, but seems to me to have lost the hunger and drive that made him stand out. Looks lazy, undisciplined and not bothered to me.Edited, as I forgot to include technically pretty limited.

Re: Michail Antonio
He just can't get into a rhythm of fitness, another on a long list of sicknotes in our team. Like Winston Reid you are just sitting there waiting for them to breakdown every 3 or 4 games.

Re: Michail Antonio
At his best when he keeps it simple. The backheels and flicks never come off (nor do the long shots tbh), but does add a different dimension to our team when he does play.
