Re: Welcome Antonio
Would you say he's similar to Bolasie for Palace?NFFC_Wanderer wrote:It will be interesting to see how he fares in the Premier League. I remember thinking during his run of form last year that he has very little footballing ability - quite often, the ball will simply bounce off him and to the opposition. But, he's a very impressive athlete. He's ridiculously strong and fast, when he gets moving he doesn't stop.

He played for Tooting and Mitcham like me and my old man which makes him instantly my second favorite player. Bredren

Looks from the little I have seen to play down the middle.
Thought we signed him as a wide player?
Looks like he plays wide left to me.

Re: Welcome Antonio
Nominally a winger but more of an inside forward. He won't play much down the touchline, he's very direct.mushy wrote:So what's his position?

I'm not sure how well "knock it past the defender and beat him for pace and strength" is going to work in the Premier League because most top flight defenders are smart enough to read the game, but we'll see.

He sounds very much like Bolasie for Crystal Palace..........would you say he is similar?Woans Left Peg wrote:

Got the image in my head of a fast counter attack and Antonio, Moses, Lanzini, Jenkinson and Sakho all shouting "Charge!"

I'm excited to see him play because I genuinely don't know much beyond this guy beyond Fifa. Pace and power seem to be his forte but the important thing is seeing some end product.

Not a scooby. I don't live in the UK so the only football I really watch is Forest games.stu1 wrote:He sounds very much like Bolasie for Crystal Palace..........would you say he is similar?
Re: Welcome Antonio
Never seen him play, so am looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
I have a gut feeling he will be frustrating to watch at times but do a decent job, like Marlon Harewood.

Re: Welcome Antonio
If he plays like the youtube clips they will just give him the ball and he will blow anything in his path to one side and score.
He is a monster and it will be like a 15 year old playing against 6 year olds in the park

Re: Welcome Antonio
Sounds like this season's Marlon Harewood ... another serious unit, bought from Forest, who could look like a total donkey one moment and then smash in a great goal the next ... I still treasure the one Marlon got against l'Arse at UP in 2005-6. Koncheski to Ethers, to Sheringham, back to Ethers, who banged it across and in steamed Marlon to smash it in. The ball was moved with real purpose from one end of the pitch to the other at high speed and to maximum effect: Pardew football at its best.NFFC_Wanderer wrote:It will be interesting to see how he fares in the Premier League. But, he's a very impressive athlete. He's ridiculously strong and fast, when he gets moving he doesn't stop. He has improved during his time here, although he can still be frustrating. He can also earn wins and draws out of nothing. Hard to tell whether he's really good or not, to be honest. Sometimes, he's both. I guess 7m's not a lot of money nowadays, anyway.
... And if Antonio ever scores a goal like that - or makes it for Sakho or Carroll - I'll be very well pleased.
