His name is translated into english as Adrian Saint Michael of the Castle:)
Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
Well maybe he read a little bit about the club before he decided to sign his contract?Larry wrote:Welcome to Upton Park , Adrian on signing he said 'He added: "I am extremely happy and ecstatic to have joined such a legendary and historical club."
Always makes me laugh when new player says that about the club he has just signed for when the truth is Adrian probably knows about Moore and Hurst and naff all else.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
Hopefully a great bit of business. Can't say I'd heard of him, but doesn't look as if he's been signed to play understudy for too long. If we could do what Villa did with Given/Guzan and Spurs did with Friedel/Lloris and introduce him when he either he forces himself into the team or Jussi's form drops, then he'll probably settle in a lot better than if he just gets chucked into the side on day one. Great to see some healthy competition in the goalkeeping department for the first time in a while.

A comment from that video from a Betis fan:-
I'm a betis fan, i've read all your comments and i must tell you that you've signed a great gk. he has no handling and sometimes he fails going out of the goal, but this season he has earned more points than lost and his cost is 0€ anyway. His best skills in order are reflexes, communication and long passing. He plays well at corners also. I hope he'll make a good season for the hummers and he'll feel like in home cause west ham fans looks passionate like us! Greetings from Seville!

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
I've always liked Betis as a club, in a way they are similar to us as they are still one of the smaller clubs in Spain, but with a huge fanbase and massive potential. Passionate fans as well, maybe we could play them in a friendly (OS ?) one day, although I think our owners would want one of the bigger names to open the West Ham reign at the OS.
Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
Didn't realise they had such a big stadium, think it's about 56k, although I don't think they average much more than us. They do seem like a proper club, not that I know too much about them.HamburgHammer wrote:I've always liked Betis as a club, in a way they are similar to us as they are still one of the smaller clubs in Spain, but with a huge fanbase and massive potential. Seemed quite complimentary of our club on their forum too.

Wow the Betis stadium looks amazingly steep, I think the camera effect makes it look steeper than it is though.

isn't that a common type of stadium though in spain? think I've seen a few stadiums from over there which have a similar design

I have good hopes for him too, great name
Like how the website story ended with 'Adrian becomes West Ham's 4th Spanish signing, after Diego Tristan, Kepa Blanco and Manuel Almunia.' Probably wasn't worth mentioning that bit at the end

didn't understand a word but skip towards the end. It's nice to see genuine affection for a club every once in a while.

Re: Adrián San Miguel del Castillo
Betis fans are saying that his strength is saving long shots, baring in mind our defensive strength is restricting teams to long range shots this could be a fantastic bit of business! Good luck Adrian!
