Thankfully then puff people at the club know more than you, Jesus with your view we would never had picked up half the players we have, Byram will be a good player it's pretty plain to see that as it was with cress, Reid, Antonio and a load of other players we've bought previously that have had a load of crap written about them on here.
We ain't man city, we need to buy players to develop them.

I like 2 DMs if our other three are creative outlets. The 4-2-3-1 setup worked wonders last year. Certainly better than this 4-1-4-1 setup we've been using this season.
A lot of it depends on creative mids, though, and so far this season none of ours have been healthy.

Other than a few reckless challenges I have not thought Sam Byram has been poor at all.

Don't wanna jinx anything. But I've known of Zaza these last 5years. Never had an Injury. Been solid. Now......IF....IF he starts getting one here, well f*** me sideways. Something definitely is in the water.

You've done it now. I give him 27 minutes before he's down and out for 4-6 monthsGep wrote:Don't wanna jinx anything. But I've known of Zaza these last 5years. Never had an Injury. Been solid. Now......IF....IF he starts getting one here, well **** me sideways. Something definitely is in the water.

I'm sorry, how can he have ever been poor? He came on and immediately exceeded Jenks's level last season against City, and arguably been our most solid defender in pre-season.mushy wrote:

This club sometimes. It appears to be we only want to have a reputation for developing youth if they played in the academy. His two weaknesses of note seem to be stuff you would put down to inexperience, but he's strong defensively, physically and in skill, good in the air and happy to go up and down all game. 22 years old and 5 premier league games in.

I don't et the 'Byram's not ready' arguement. I think he's been decent and will only get better the more games he plays. The fact he's come into a struggling team ain't helped him, once we get the likes of Payet, Lanzini and Feghouli in the team I expect everyone else will look better individually as the team will keep the ball a lot better and play with some kind of purpose.

Re: The 2016 summer transfer thread
I think Byram is ready to be our starting RB. I think I'd like a more senior RB to join for a couple reasons though.
Firstly, to make sure Antonio never has to play there ever again.
And secondly, as much as I like Byram, he does seem to like to hold and pull players back when they've beat him on the wing, basically a walking yellow card at times, so until he improves his game defensively, having an experienced RB to be able to come off the bench later in the game sounds a nice option to me.

I don't accept he was the best we could get, neither do I agree with your assessment that we have to buy players in order to develop them. We have signed many a finished articleOzza wrote:

Zaza's got to be good for at least one of those goals where the player charges the keeper as he's making a clearance and the ball richochets back into the net, right?
That's definitely going to happen at least once every season.

Any sources announcing Zaza is done yet?
I know it's just a matter of time. Jack said 3 hours ago that Zaza was on his way over to Sully's for tea.

If we are looking at a PL RB loan then Jose is apparently looking to ship Matteo Darmian out. Gotta be better then Chambers

With Zaza in our net spending this window has surpassed £50m. Surely we'll ship out a few to bring that figure down, but I'm dying to hear from all the people saying the Daves have pulled the wool over our eyes and pocketed all the new TV money...
