Am not quite sure how owning it will improve the 20 minute walk to the stadium.
As far as I can see, that's never going to change.

Lt. Discussion wrote:Well I miss green street. It was never particularly salubrious and the demographic had changed but what did that matter on match day. It was home and still had a homely feel. I miss the north bank, I miss the south bank, I miss the west lower. That was never going to last though. However the missed opportunity of a redev is unforgivable.
I would have likened it to a nostalgic walk down Walthamstow Market, Brick Lane or The Roman on a weekend.. as much as all of those places have been changed by times and punters, they still belong as locations with a link to working class London & a lot of our elders etc

What’s in Green Street now for anyone to revisit? I’m guessing nothing, I’ve not been back there after 36 years of that historic procession - that whiff of fried onion and sea of people walking in all directions before the game. I’m guessing it’s been hit hard from losing matchdays beyond Nathan’s etc closing?

Is Ercans still going? The pie & mash shop on Barking Road?

Ercans was still there when I was having a nostalgic look back a few weeks ago.

We all (I think) prefer the traditional grounds where you approach through residential streets as it feels like you are going to the match but a benefit of the vast majority of the new grounds is their accessibility in that you can be dropped off by a cab, or car, virtually on the doorstep.

Thanks to its position in the Olympic Park how close can a vehicle get to the pit?
Doesn't exactly make it an easy visit for the elderly or those less able to walk distances.

Living in Forest Gate, i drive up Green Street quite a bit
To be honest it is exactly the same as it was on every other day football isn't on. A fairly bustling residential area high street
Of course, some of the establishments that fit less with the current ethnic profile of the place and relied on the fortnightly football are struggling - Ken's Cafe for example. But given there are quite a lot of Eastern Europeans mixed in with the Muslim population, some of the pubs seem to be doing ok

Capacity's just gone up to 60k, with 66k soon to follow.

Good news I think, we need it:

Who pays for the additional catering and toilet facilities the capacity uplift would require?

An alternative question might be 'why didn't the landlord fit the stadium out with sufficient facilities to meet its full capacity'?

It's been 3 weeks now, beginning with the Tottenham game on the 20th October.
I went on a Stadium Tour (Birthday Present) on Thursday and got a tour of the East stand members area. "The Royal East". When I was sitting on their leather seats in the stadium I thought the guy in front of me had farted something rotten. But I am convinced i smelt what everyone has been smelling and it was not pleasant.

Will that translate into more seats available for members or general sale?

Only until they decide to sell them as season tickets next season, at which point back to square one.

The number of empty seats will remain the same, there'll just be more unsold seats.

How soon will the capacity rise to 66,000? Within this season or next?

does this mean that all of 114 will be re-instated? i believe when Karen met with fan representatives that this would be the case when getting the increased capacity.

Not so long ago it was every body's dream to watch your team play at the old Wembley. No moans & groans then. Much further away from the pitch etc. Why oh why do people on hear keep on & on with how bad our ground is, it's far better than the old Wembley let's just get on with it. :scarfer:
