Rock up two minutes late and you breeze through security! I've managed to miss the first few minutes of a few games and it does avoid the queue at security! :D Evening games are probably worst for queues because everyone arrives at the same time. I've got to say the queues this season haven't really been bad, I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes

Yeah, but there was also the police sergeant hovering just behind the very slow security and he was just waiting for someone to overstep. There's normally no OB in evidence around the LS security checks.

Quite right - you only need a crowd, it doesn't have to actually be inside the venue. Wasn't that the case in Paris?

I've come to the conclusion, the checkpoints situated as they are are not for the crowds benefit but to protect the Stadium itself.

If it was for people's genuine safety bearing in mind suicide bombers, they wouldn't be setting up these potential catastrophic hoardings of people. It just doesn't make sense and counter productive putting many lives at risk which leads me to genuinely believe we do it only to protect the structure of the stadium.

Or you just become a steward & do it that.

If something is going to happen it will happen regardless, as bad as that sounds...

I bet you could 'become' a steward by just turning up in a hi-viz a few hour before the match.

Let's be honest, if someone wanted to detonate a bomb either in the stadium or outside the stadium, the chances of it succeeding would come down the level of intelligence that the security services had.

If they knew about it, it would be stopped before it got anywhere near the stadium, if they didn't it would likely succeed (to some extent)

Having some part-time stewards conduct a very hit or miss body search and a cursory check of bags will not make a blind of difference IMHO

Personally, think they should just get rid of it and everyone takes their chances

It's obvious small scale devices could be smuggled through, but a full-scale suicide vest probably wouldn't. I'm not an explosive expert but a device detonated in the open air will have only a fraction of the impact of one detonated inside the stadium. The security checks can be irksome, but I'm willing to accept them as a basic level of protection. Someone mentioned Paris. I believe the bomber detonated his device at the perimeter having failed to get through stadium security. This is the aim

On a personal note I had several pints of 5.2% tiny rebel and a chicken burger and then a balti pie at half time so anyone down wind of me could and would have noticed a foul stench.
