I'm not sure I'd like a seat behind the goal in the Ekaterinburg Stadium

Still not as **** as ours, 3 sides of it are close and square as well as there not being trampolines separating the top and bottom crowd.

The lower tier seats are being put in the yard by Pudding Mill station again. You can see all the state of the art retractable scaffolding growing.
A lot of the cost must be in having prime building land set aside for storage.

Rubbish, that is horrendous and you know it.
Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
On the train back last night it filled up at Stratford with people who had been to Beyonce and Jay z at the London Stadium, the many gripes I heard were about stewards, staff at the bars and how poor the acoustics are the the stadium.
Really does seem the only thing its good for is athletics.

Having been to concerts there myself I would say it is as suitable for gigs as any other big stadium.

I went to see Depeche Mode at the OS last year and its not the acoustics that are ****, its the PA system. Totally unsuitable for music.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
There are other athletic or former athletic stadiums, that have far straighter sides than ours. If it had been designed from the beginning to be a combined stadium its curve could have been around a third of what it is and what I would deem near perfect and most of the present inherent problems would have been solved especially if the rake was a little steeper and the upper tier as little as 6 feet or so higher allowing most of the gap to be removed. Sadly the architects were told to design football out of the equation and as such the exaggerated bowl effect created. Thus transformation could do only so much to correct that inherent problem within the allocated budget. Other stadiums that have been transformed you will see the lower tiers are usually much shallower than the upper or gradually transform as it decends so as to straighten the edges closest to the pitch, lack of height and cost considerations precluded that at the OS.Claret&Blue,Thru& wrote:
"sutts07"]3 games in the world cup so far... all played in stadiums that are every bit as oval as ours, yet they all found a way to square the stands off to align with the pitch.
Perhaps they were designed for football?
The Maracana interestingly built as a football stadium had an oval not disisimilar to ours strangely, but when they rebuilt it to incorporate athletics for the Olympics ironically the sides were straightened considerably so it's not simply a matter of athletics stadiums having to be as poor as ours for football it just has to be considered in the first place to get the best result. Still a compromise yes, and no one will claim a perfect solution, but frustratingly could be so much better than ours presently, which I fear can only be seriously improved as and when athletics is ejected, thus no time soon.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
world class retractable seating system seems to have gone out of the window
we are stuck with the dust bowl. lower tiers and a few upper areas near corners are ok. overall opinion is its awful for fans.
lets hope the team improve on the pitch and the problems off it get forgotten.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
The Ekaterinberg stadium ha# two TEMPORARY seating areas as FIFA say the minimum capacity is 35,000 and that stadium is normally a lot smaller.
I went there in 2017 and it is a beautifull stadium and listed as a protected building.
Very very weird additions though but the view looks ok.

Amazing technology how Karren just presses a button and her iconic seats retract all the way to Pudding Mill. Must be at least UEFA category 4.Doc H Ball wrote:The lower tier seats are being put in the yard by Pudding Mill station again. You can see all the state of the art retractable scaffolding growing.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I wish we could press a button and retract her to mars !
so are any improvements to the bowl planned for the new season.
same old crap seats miles from the pitch on scaffolding and breeze block
same rubbish stewards who will either fight you or be asleep
same expensive crap food inside the stadium
new claret coloured carpet around the pitch that will further emphasise how far away the fans are
same poor pre match entertainment, DJ too loud poor sound, cringeworthy ads etc
lets hope the team are better or it will be a long season ahead!

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
I wonder if given more control would they make many improvements?
Seems there is a lot of red tape to change even small things that wouldn’t affect anyone else, maybe that suits them as they can hide behind it.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
i very rarely post but does anyone know is there any plans to replace the green saggy disjointed carpet that surrounds our pitch?....it really is an issue that needs addressing
