I thought it looked a ****, half-empty athletics stadium. Half-finished electronic sinage, bare half-empty concrete blocks and loads of sections covered with black tarpaulin.

The players are paid enough to get on with it, we have to accept it, so must they.
Wishing they were away is crap, like it or not, if they don't want to play there then ship out.
They take the 60k quick enough, over the next three or 4 seasons we won't have any left that have played at the Boyen.

just checked, it's three days.

so really if anyone want's to look where money is being wasted on this stadium they need to look at the £8m+ it costs every year to convert it to Athletics who pay what? £500k a year?

The sooner it is accepted as a football only stadium the better.
we can never get the seats closer to the pitch but if we could at least permanently set the seats in place and do something clever with the gaps it's something at least

Quite the opposite.

The sooner it is accepted as anything but a football stadium the better.

Perhaps then we can relocate or knock the khazi down and build a proper stadium fit for a football club.

^^^ Athletics have use of the Stadium from the last Friday in June until the end of July to hold whatever events they want during that period - certainly not limited to the Anniversary Games. If they leave the East Stand seats in place as they did last year, then it's estimated to be around £3.5m to do the conversion in a normal year when the World Championships are not being held.

But with no real contributions from Athletics how much do they make from what is held there?

Athletic championships might be different but I imagine to convert it for athletics each year normally will make them a loss?

I think that's the issue... if it's not making money it will eventually be stopped

At the moment we are still seeing the whole legacy b*llocks played out.. in a year or two money will be the only reason decisions are made

The agreement to transition the "relocatable" seating between E20 Stadium LLP and PHD Modular Access Services Ltd has been published on the Park website:

http://www.queenelizabetholympicpark.co ... nex-a.ashx

Anything of note has been redacted - the transition times and the percentage uplift and bonuses that are paid. It seems as though the work is charged on an uplift on time and materials with a bonus for coming in under target cost amounts. The process goes from Pitch Mode to Concert Mode to Athletics Mode and back to Pitch Mode.

PHD also have to prepare plans on how the transition time can be reduced to 7 days!

The words retract or retractable do not feature once.

Good phrase that. They are currently "relocated" next to Pudding Mill Lane DLR station. I travel past them everyday on my commute.

So LLDC are valuing the stadium at only 1.5m, buy it, buy it now & then make the stadium how it should be....although based on west ham's transfer dealings, we would probably only offer 1.3m! lol

As others have said - why would anyone spend money converting it to a football ground when they have just sold out for the second season running? It just wont happen.

True but at that price for the stadium, perspective buyers might buy us & then convert it, most people thought the stadium was going to be worth north of 100m mark, so most people were questioning why anyone would buy us for whatever the chuckle brothers wanted, then buy the stadium for x & then pay x on top to convert....at 1.5m to buy the stadium its/we are a better prospect to potential buyers, no?

maybe im just dreaming again...

The Para Athletics can cover up the concrete - why can't we? And a guide dog having a snooze!

West Ham won't and shouldn't pay a bean to own the stadium, it makes no sense. They have 98 years of a lease left at £2.5 million per annum. That also includes a whole host of other cost that they would pick up such as policing stewards etc. Why would West Ham want to convert the stadium when on the back of a poor to average season they have sold out for a second season in a row.

They may have lied through their back teeth regarding seats close to the pitch etc but we as a fanbase bought it lock stock and barrel and haven't walked away when the mistruths were uncovered.

What would be the incentive for a new owner to rebuild the ground at the cost of 100's of millions when there is a 'fit for purpose' stadium that requires no work?

We should buy it so that we can control it.

If there is no athletics there and no need to fanny around with the lower tiers then the running costs per year are much lower than at present.

We would also be in control of all revenues including stadium naming rights.

It would not surprise me if this athletics world championship will be the last we see of any athletics at the LS.......

The anniversary games were a bit of a joke and the LLDC will not be able to justify the cost of it too themselves or others.
