Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
So to summarise it all Wembley, they may as well save money in the long term and give the stadium (and all its costs) to us.
Its probably the best solution all round but a political landmine.

Another article in the Standard: Olympic stadium will compete with Wembley for gigs to beat cash crisis.

the Grantor Default info at the top of page 18 outlines their obligations. Them going into administration would have implications on (a) and (b).Wembley1966 wrote:
There doesn't appear to be any provision in the agreement for the owners going bust - only if we do.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
^^^ Which gives us the right to terminate if there's a Grantor Default - but what are the obligations for a public body to continue the agreement?

None. If any Mayor was stupid enough to let E20 go bust there would be no appetite at all for another public body to take up the losses. Although there is nothing that states we need to pack up and leave in the event of grantor default.
If E20 went bust who could/would kick us out? And why?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Perhaps the best option would be keep the Olympic Stadium for athletics to keep Seb Coe happy and rebuild Upton Park exactly as it was (but with better toilets) to keep 80% of West Ham fans happy.

Sullivan will be hoping they do go bust, then buy it off the administrator at 1/10th of its value. Thus making the value of the club sky rocket.

No. Can anyone remember what the price was for the agreed original deal to own the stadium was before Levy, Hear etc piled up?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
But do you guys think the Dildo Brothers would spend any money to improve the stadium if did they own it outright?
It will cost alot, the best we could hope for is a claret rug around the athletics track?
New owners will be needed for a complete transformation of the stadium.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
West Ham will remain unaffected if the stadium goes bust, Brady protected the club so no matter what happens even if stadium reverts to central government ownership, WHU only pay the contractual amount.
What west ham really want is not ownership, but management. That is in the hands of LS185, West Ham feel they could do a better job, allied to the fact LS185 block a lot of west ham proposals, i.e. matting around pitch extra shelving, etc etc then get rid of LS185 let west ham manage the stadium and they believe things will be smother.
Problem is if wHU manage the stadium and then make a profit, that off sets the rent they pay meaning there could be a possibility of WHU not paying any rent which then may open the State aid mess again.
The stadium is a joke, from LLDC and Newham through E20 then LS185 and onto West Ham. Recipe for disaster, and the club still went there. Just shows the potential money to be made drove this al the time, and i dont mean the money west ham will make.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
"State aid" shouldn't matter after we've left the EU, should it?
Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
main bone of contention is the seating and the so called retractability, the seats are in exactly the correct position they were designed to be in with the retractable seating, if it worked,MrHammer73 wrote:But do you guys think the Dildo Brothers would spend any money to improve the stadium if did they own it outright?

New owners will be needed for a complete transformation of the stadium.
So if they were to make changes they wouldn’t be able to increase the capacity so wouldn’t raise extra money from doing so.
so effectively they would be spending money for no return just to make the stadium look better which is debatable any way.
I do believe though they would put a claret rug around the stadium though actually if they uncovered the running track that would be roughly the same colour?

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
The stadium is beyond being redeveloped.Heard it many times by many experts would have to be bulldozed and start again. The best and most realistic hope is GSB pick it up for peanuts and then move it on to someone prepared to build a new stadium.

Re: Olympic Stadium Discussion and Questions
Just getting it bought would be a huge step forward even though a 're-developement' may be beyond them, certainly in the short term, Would control of revenues generated by the stadium, naming rights, summer gigs, popcorn sales etc. would come to the club?bubbles500 wrote:But even if they did buy it,does it even make a difference.Unless they are prepared to spend hundreds of millions to redevelop it ?

Well it can’t be that beneficial or they wouldn’t be going bust.Plus British Athletics must have a condition to stay under new owner. No chance we could kick them out.So we’d be liable for the £8m a year to convert it.Can Honestly imagine it ending up a legal minefield and being tied up in court for years.Hopefully while still being able to play there.
