I expect more for 20m though. This could be his season.

Plus the assists (if we are to exclude the other chances he makes).

One of the most frustrating players I have seen. One moment a world class flick or touch, next he gives it away needlessly-like he's never seen a ball before.

Despite his goal I would prefer Arnie to come on first. Ayew is a last option for me still.

Ayew has some pretty decent stats, however I think they mask his contribution throughout a game which is often very little.

Yes, if only goals were a less important factor in a game of football.

Tbf, Long John Silver would have scored that on Monday night, even if his leg had fallen off.
Give Ayew his due though, he did well when he came on.
More of the same please, lad!

the thing is he is in the right place to knock it in. one yard or 20 yards still counts the same.
a quality sub to have. will be useful this season.

no good having a pick itself first 11 and nothing else. we need a squad of good players to come in and don a job when required. ayew did that on monday night

He's an instinctive goal-scorer. Offer him a chance in the right place and the ball's hitting the net before the keeper can set himself properly. Its not a complete rarity; Hernandez's goals at Southampton come from the same instinct.

I think Ayew's contribution is more patchy outside of the area.

We'd convert bundles of goals, if we could somehow calibrate the team in diamond midfield formation, with the above two channeling forward, making runs.

I think it's Bilic's major flaw at the moment. He has too many players with large egos and he doesn't know where their best position is on the field.

He is trying to incorporate everyone, meaning they are all being played outfield and not necessarily in their correct position. See Hernandez on Monday being played on the wing. Bilic should have played Hernandez or Carroll, not both.

Same is with Ayew. Bilic also plays Obiang, Kouyate and Noble on the pitch when only two are necessary.

According to Snoddy, Bilic didn't even know where his best position was and asked him where he would like to play. Bilic should already know this IMO.

Our best front 6 should be:

Kouyate Obiang
Antonio Lanzini Arnie
Hernandez

Leave the rest on the bench and bring them on if need be.

I disagree. Carroll with either Hernandez or Ayew is a classic pairing, c.f. Shearer and Sheringham.

I don't think it would work in the system Bilic currently deploys.

We play 1 striker with 2 wingers. If we were to adopt 2 up front with Hernandez playing just off Carroll, I'd agree completely!
