Having done the thread for a few years it doesn't work like that unfortunately when your 'greens' from last season are against top sides.

Because we will then have to match scores (to make the improvements count) by beating Liverpool, Man City, Everton and Arsenal away.

It's tough to claw back a deficit when anything less than a win from each of those games means more ground lost. We're capable of beating some of those, don't get me wrong - but our start this season has heaped pressure on those games.

And we now have a benchmark for the next 5 games of going unbeaten and getting 11 points....

We're really struggling here...

Week 15 Benchmark Review

Despite the battling point, 2 more lost on last season.

Gameweek 2 West Ham 1-0 Bournemouth (3-4) +2pts
Gameweek 3 Man City 3-1 West Ham (1-2) -1pts
Gameweek 4 West Ham 2-4 Watford (3-1) -4pts
Gameweek 5 West Brom 4-2 West Ham (0-3) -7pts
Gameweek 6 West Ham 0-3 Southampton (2-1) -10pts

Gameweek 7 West Ham 1-1 Middlesbrough (2-2) -10pts
Gameweek 8 Crystal Palace 0-1 West Ham (1-3) -10pts

Gameweek 11 West Ham 1-1 Stoke (0-0) -13 pts
Gameweek 12 Tottenham 3-2 West Ham (4-1) -13 pts
Gameweek 13 Man Utd 1-1 West Ham (0-0) -13 pts

Gameweek 14 West Ham 1-5 Arsenal (3-3) -14 pts
Gameweek 15 Liverpool 2-2 West Ham (0-3) -16pts

Next 5 Games
Gameweek 16 West Ham v Burnley (2-0) 3pt
Gameweek 17 West Ham v Hull (2-0) 3pt
Gameweek 18 Swansea v West Ham (0-0) 1pt
Gameweek 19 Leicester v West Ham (2-2) 1pt
Gameweek 20 West Ham v Man Utd (3-2) 3pt

Week 15 results (Last season in brackets)
Watford (5) v Everton (-5) (1-1) 3-2
Arsenal (5) v Stoke (-2) (2-0) 3-1
Burnley (2) v Bournemouth (-2) (1-3) 3-2
Hull (6) v Crystal Palace (1) (1-0) 3-3
Swansea (-12) v Sunderland (1) (2-4) 3-0
Leicester (-4) v Manchester City (9) (0-0) 4-2
Chelsea (10) v West Bromwich Albion (-1) (2-2) 1-0
Manchester United (0) v Tottenham (-3) (1-0) 1-0
Southampton (-1) v Middlesborough (1) (3-0) 1-0

Liverpool (5) v West Ham (-10) (0-3) 2-2

Statto time -
3 out of 10 results the same as last season in week 15. Of the 150 games played so far, 66 (44%) have produced the same result. Tottenham have had 12 out of 15 the same, Middlesborough, Crystal Palace and Burnley have had 10. Swansea have had 3.

Overall, Chelsea are 15 points better off, Liverpool and Watford are on 9. We are worst off with -16 followed by Leicester on -13 and Swansea on -12.

If all results for the remainder of the season were matched, we would finish 13th on 46 points

This is looking more and more worrying by the week isn't it?

If I am reading these tables correctly then should we match last season's results from here on in then we would finish on 46 points.

To put that another way our team who are currently achieving a whole point per game less than last year would have to suddenly match last seasons form (our best league season for a long while) just to finish 6 points above the usual perceived 'safety mark'.

The next two games really are massive ones for the club.
