Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Targets
So the 3 players Henry and Bilic speak of are two strikers and a right back. It seems inevitable that Zabaleta will be the right back. Batshuayi, Iheanacho and Gray are the top striker targets. 2 of those 3 + Zabaleta will really make a significant impact. The rest as they say is details.
It looks like Everyone bar Tore, Arbeloa and Calleri are potentially back, although I expect a Valencia to be moved on along with Nordtveit, I think he was who ability was referring to when he said some players did not get as many minutes as they would have liked. I also would expect Randolph to be moved on, especially if he looks ok on Ireland duty, and Sakho if we can some how get rid of him.
With Zabaleta, Bryam, Arthur and Creswell, we probably have a full complement of fullbacks for the first time in a decade.
Fonte, Ogbonna, Reid and Collins give us 4 quality centre backs with Kouyate able to cover and Burke, Oxford and Rice to cone in.
Feghouli, Snodgrass and Antonio are wide players. Ayew and Lanzini can also play there.
Obiang, Kouyate, Noble, Lanzini and Fernandes all cover central midfield.
Ayew, and ideally 2 of the three I mentioned play as forwards, Carroll if hi is fit with Fletcher and Martinez to come through.
I'd say outside of needing another goalie that would be the best and most balanced squad we have had in at least 10 years. The rest would be tinkering.

If we can get anywhere near 20m for Ayew then it's a must to sell him. He offers nothing and it means we could go and get a replacement who fits into whatever system we are going to play.

It's one of his biggest qualities, his versatility to play anywhere in the final third and someone who adapts well to changes of formation. He also works like a dog chasing back helping out the midfield, as well as linking play between the midfield and attack.
Unless his replacement was **** hot and imminent, I wouldn't sell him unless the offer significantly exceeded £20m which it won't right now. Now we've got a few half decent Strikers, let's not be hasty in getting rid. It was a real ball ache to get to this position as it is with decent Strikers (when fit). Finding better are few and very far between and certainly not easy to get a d we should always be mindful of that, whoever we are looking to quickly sell, be it Ayew, Sakho, Carroll. I'd only really be interested if their replacements were on the verge of agreeing to sign and not leaving ourselves exposed should decent deals fail to materialise after we've sold decent ones we currently do have.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Targets
Offers nothing? Scored a few goals and grabbed a few assists including a goal and an assist in the last game. And this in a very unsettled side having missed the first few months with injury. He's looked better and better the more he's played. As has feghouli. As has Byram. He works hard pressing from the front, links up play between midfield and attack well, has a good footballing brain, and can play anywhere in the attacking half of the pitch, meaning he can pretty much fit into most systems. His best position is as a number 10 imo.
He offers far from nothing. He's a very good player. The type of player we need more of, not getting rid of.

His attitude and professionalism is also 1st class. One the younger players look up too. He has leadership qualities and we missed that type of strong character in the team, in the early part of the season when the wheels came rolling off. There's a general calmness in his play I really like.

6 goals and 3 assists in 1440 minutes and just 16 starts. All while playing any of 4 different positions and coming into a thoroughly unsettled side after a long injury layoff.RayleighHammer23 wrote:If we can get anywhere near 20m for Ayew then it's a must to sell him. Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Targets
We should definitely be keeping Ayew.
That said, this:
Antonio - Lanzini - Onyekuru
---------- Iheanacho -----------
Is crazily exciting as a front four if we could pull off the two moves necessary. Pace, power, trickery, invention - sign me up.

Was joking. My earlier comment essentially said that people would moan if we didn't sign him ("can't compete with Bournemouth") or if we did ("waste of money").chuffster wrote: Why would we want to piss away £130, 000 (EDIT-PER WEEK, oops)on him???
Thankfully, it seems that not many people have gone with option A.

I really don't understand the posters who doubt what Ayew offers us. He is a proper footballer. Will be very good next season, if we can get a balanced team around him

5 Goals, 3 Assists in the 900 minutes since returning from AFCON, before that he was building fitness after a serious injury.
The only player in the squad with a better goals per minute is Carroll. Who are people replacing Ayew with for £15m?

I don't know if this is better suited for the Slav thread, forgive me if it is, but will his hip surgery have any affect on transfers? He's supposed to be on the mend for a bit and I know he has been signing off on transfers in the past.
