Ugo Ehiogu sadly has passed away after collapsing

Postby Boooogers! on Thu Apr 20, 2017 5:29 pm

Just saw this on the BBC website:

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/39660196

Obviously non West Ham related given that Ugo is an ex Villa player and Sp***s under 23 coach, but it reminded me of when I was a kid and one of the local kid's mum died. Ugo knew my mate's old man and he came round to offer his condolences. Ugo persuaded my mate, who hadn't left the house for days, to get out to the local park in Harold Hill where we were having our regular kick about. Long story short, Ugo made a difference that day, and went out of his way to cheer up a distraught kid. He also let me nutmeg him and that was the one and only day I got to say "nuts - how ya feelin'?!" to a Premiership footballer.

Get well soon Ugo, and I hope it's not too serious.

**** sake.

I really liked Ugo Ehiogu. An excellent defender who I always wanted us to sign. I saw him make his England debut at Villa Park during Sven's first game.

He seemed like a really nice man.

Terrible news, an East Londoner and product of the Senrab youth teams.

Also passionate about music - I recall him setting up the alternative/indie rock label Dirty Hit.

RIP Ugo.

Terrific defender and a decent man by the sound of things. Sad news indeed.

One of my favourite centre backs when I was growing up. Really sad news, 44 is no age really. RIP.
