LIVE TEXT:
11' This time it’s Snodgrass who wastes a dangerous free-kick by firing it straight into the wall.
16' Fonte goes in hard on Snodgrass and ends up in the book.
18' Alan Hutton, of all people, rises high to meet Snodgrass’ inswinging free-kick but he can’t keep his header down.
22' 1-0 Terry scores his first goal for Villa as he rises high to thunder in Snodgrass’ perfectly-timed free-kick. He runs straight towards the Fulham fans to celebrate.
43' Challenges are flying in from all angles now as half-time approaches. Referee Michael Jones is having a job keeping this one under wraps. First Kalas is lucky to escape a yellow card after a challenge with Adomah and on the other side of the pitch Snodgrass connects with Ayite, although it didn’t look intentional, and leaves him in a heap. No action for either player. Just a warning from the ref.
81' Bruce looking to tighten it up for the final ten minutes as De Laet comes on to replace Snodgrass.

LIVE TEXT:

60' Snodgrass, who has been so quiet, is replaced by Mile Jedinak. That’s a very defensive sub from Bruce.

Great work, as always, Leon :)

It's a bit worrying about our two lads at Bolton, something tells me they're at the wrong club, Burke is decent, I think he's good enough for our bench, let alone theirs.

Robert Snodgrass

Rob played 88 minutes as Villa won 2-0 at Preston. He scored the second goal after assisting the first with a corner. Villa are now up to 5th.

MATCH REPORT:
"James Chester headed Villa into an early lead as he met a Robert Snodgrass corner at the near post.
Provider Snodgrass then turned scorer for the second as he swept in from the edge of the penalty box after Josh Onomah found him in space."

LIVE TEXT:
4' Villa immediately on the attack as they get this game underway. Two Hourihane deliveries cause problems for the Preston backline and Snodgrass shoots over under pressure from Earl.
12' 0-1 (Chester) Villa take the lead through Chester. And let’s be honest, it was coming! Snodgrass swings a cross into the box and Villa’s No.5 rises to head home via a deflection off Pearson.
32' 0-2 (Snodgrass) Villa double their lead through Snodgrass. A terrible mistake from Pearson sees the stand-in skipper misplace his pass and Onomah intercepts. Rather than shooting himself, the striker coolly squares it to Snodgrass and he slides it past Maxwell. Villa in complete control now.
47' Terry meets an out-swinging free-kick from Snodgrass but can’t keep his header down and it flies into the away end.
88' On comes De Laet to replace Snodgrass for Villa’s final change.

Robert Snodgrass

Rob played 40 minutes as Villa conceded 2 early goals in a 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

LIVE TEXT:

17' Robert Snodgrass lets fly from around 30 yards but Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood gets his body behind it. Villa are desperately trying to gain some sort of control in this match following that incredible start for Wednesday.
21' A succession of corners from Villa as Robert Snodgrass’ initial delivery is headed behind by Tom Lees. Terry meets the Scot’s second ball in but he can’t get enough purchase on the ball.
40' Callum O’Hare replaces Robert Snodgrass after 40 minutes. Snodgrass was fuming as he walked over to the bench and threw his shin pads to the side of the dugout. The Scot has been struggling with injury in the build-up to this game but he clearly didn’t want to come off.
HT: Everything that could have gone wrong for Villa has gone wrong. A goal after 18 seconds from Adam Reach kicked things off before Jordan Rhodes doubled the lead. In the meantime, John Terry has gone off injured and Callum O’Hare has replaced a particularly livid Robert Snodgrass.

Rob played 81 minutes as Villa won 2-1 at QPR. He was cautioned for a foul on the hour.

LIVE TEXT:

5' Onomah is hauled down by Lynch presenting Villa with a free-kick. Snodgrass whips it into the box for Samba but he thunders a header high over the bar.
23' A teasing corner from Snodgrass caused problems before Davis dinked in back into the box for a second attempt.
39' QPR really should be applauded for their defending. Villa looked certain to score as Snodgrass cut in from the left and fired an effort towards goal only for Robinson to block it as it headed goalbound.
69' Villa almost grab a third after great work from Davis. The striker used his power to good effect and charged down Robinson in the box. Bidwell then slipped and Snodgrass almost pounced but he slammed over from close range.
75' That’s now FOUR golden chances Davis has missed today. A break from Villa saw Snodgrass race forward before he played in Davis. The striker wriggled his way towards the goal but then screwed wide.
81' Snodgrass goes off for Jedinak. He’s played well today, has the Scot.

Hate seeing our boys out on loan not getting minutes. Burke had so so much potential and more than held his own in our first team 3 years ago. I think the Bradford move was great. He was playing lots of minutes. I understand why he went to Bolton (back under the manager he did so well for at Bradford) but Westley must've know the situation there and that he would be in a relegation battle. I know hind sight is a wonderful thing but I'm starting to feel his career has gone backwards 3 years. I really thought he has something there.

It's alright, I'm sure Burke and Cullen will benefit greatly from training with worse players than the ones at their parent club, and then sitting on the bench every weekend.

need to recall oxford burke and Cullen in January. get them back in the u23s and see how they do burke as stated looked good along with oxford. Get them back with us and add some young legs to the squad.

Martinez rice quinna samuelson burke and oxford are the ones I expect to see in the first team squad in the coming months/years.

must be better with us than being unused subs every match.

oxford has played 2 mins in Germany !

Oxford has two established internationals ahead of him at centre back at Gladbach. If he were here, he would have been fifth or sixth choice before Fonte's injury. I think he's more likely to get game time there - he's only an injury or suspension for Vestergaard or Ginter away from playing, central defenders rarely get substituted in any league.

The Oxford loan is fine, he’s experiencing new training with top quality coaching and alongside quality players, I’m sure he’s learning a lot. The Burke and Cullen loans are more worrying, Burke seems to be injuries more than anything, Cullen would have been better served higher up the table, he’s not the player for a relegation fight and Bolton seem to agree.

Midweek Matches:

Reece Burke

Reece returned to the Bolton side and scored the opening goal in a 2-2 home draw with Reading.

MATCH REPORT:
"Reece Burke headed the home side ahead after 18 minutes, connecting with Pratley's flick-on from Josh Vela's free-kick from the right."

LIVE TEXT:

19' Burke heads home from a free kick on the right by Vela. The set-piece came after a silly foul by Blackett on Ameobi down the right. It’s 1-0 Bolton.
93' Stunning save from Jaakkola to deny Burke from the corner. Brilliant from the Finn.

Next match: Sat 25th November vs Wolves (a)

Josh Cullen

unused sub

Next match: Sat 25th November vs Wolves (a)

Robert Snodgrass

Rob played the full match as Villa beat bottom club Sunderland 2-1. He set up both goals.

MATCH REPORT:
"Adomah converted Robert Snodgrass’ cross at the back-post to bag his ninth goal of the season. It was a well worked goal with Snodgrass floating a perfectly weighed cross from the left, and Adomah arriving at the back post to apply an assured finish. "

LIVE TEXT:

10' A great move from Villa sees Snodgrass cut in from the right and cross to the back post. Adomah was there, yet again, to slide in the opener.
34' A good chance for Snodgrass goes to waste as he finds himself through on goal. All he had to do was slide it into the bottom corner but Ruiter got down well to deflect his effort wide.
43' Villa struggling to find a way through the Sunderland defence when they break forward. Onomah and Davis haven’t seen much of the ball and when they’ve had it, it hasn’t stuck. Adomah and Snodgrass look lively but they haven’t got much support.
FT: SNODGRASS, 7 - Set up both goals and is now really starting to come alive in a Villa shirt. Faded out towards the end but still made a vital contribution.
Bruce: "Sometimes you have to roll your sleeves up and get the job done and thankfully the two little bits of quality that weve seen with the goals, especially Snoddy for the first one has given us the win that we badly need."

I was at Loftus Road last Saturday (don't ask...) and I can't say Snodgrass impressed me. A few decent corners and freekicks and that was about it.

The locals wasn't too impressed with his diving either, and he was booed most of the second half.

Problem with recalling Oxford and Burke is that they either become 5th and 6th choice CBs for us, or they move one up that list, but then Declan Rice drops out of the first team reckoning.

Would be happy to see all 3 of those listed recalled and loaned out to someone who'll actually play them though. (Frankly Cullen can't be any worse than our current midfield 3 so far this season either).
