Joe Hart - West Ham's Number One

Postby aaronhammer on Tue Jul 18, 2017 5:38 pm

Surprised there wasn't a thread already (sorry Mods if there's a reason for that), but now it's been officially announced by the club, we can surely have it...

WelKUMB Joe!

Unfortunately that's the end of his England career now he plays in Claret and Blue

He probably doesn't deserve to be England's number 1 to be fair.

Genuinely very excited about this deal...and viewing this as part one, with part two being the permenant deal next summer. Hopefully after a successful season for him personally and the club as a whole. Now for Hernandez and arnie (or maybe, just maybe batshuayi)

Butland, Heaton, Forster all definitely in better form, in fact most keepers in the Premier League are, minus Randy.

Defence was a shambles last year, he can certainly improve it. What a signing.

This is an absolutely brilliant signing. There is a world class keeper there hope we get to see him.

In my humble opinion he is very overrated, no better than what we already have, but from the club's point of view, he is the current England no1, a media darling and a big name in English footballing terms, so will raise the profile of our club, it won't hurt the image of the club to have the current England keeper, I can see why we have signed him, and even if it doesn't improve us much on the pitch, overall it's a step in the right direction

No option to buy mentioned on the OS and BBC sport categorically state There is no option to buy in the deal and, should West Ham want Hart next summer, they will have to bid for him like any other club.

Brings a presence and a voice. Two things we lacked a lot last season

Personally think Adrian is the same level as a keeper, but this is a good signing for WHU

Which in my opinion puts a damper on the signing, because if he does well, we won't be keeping him. Loans with no option to buy are a waste of time

Even if it is true that he's no better than we have, and I don't think that's true, and even if he does share some similar deficiencies to our current keepers, he does bring a much needed mentality that we simply haven't had before. He is a leader on the field and in the dressing room. He holds himself accountable for mistakes. He has a lot of experience in big matches, in the biggest international tourneys, in the league and in European tourneys. He's won the league. Even if he's on the down slope of his career, his assets significantly outweigh his negatives. Great signing ino. We should celebrate his arrival.

Are they? I'd say no option/an option are pretty much the same. Ultimately the player can tell you where to go and refuse to sign permanently.

What you definitely don't want is an obligation to buy as you're stiffed if he turns out ****. What you definitely would like is a fixed price to stop the selling club pulling the rug out.
