Wish Noble had done the same to be fair.Estuary wrote:Looks a player to his boots. That to me says he is loyal to those who are loyal to him.
And what a player he is turning out to be. Get his contract sorted and he is a starter for the next five years.

Re: Declan Rice
He did play well yesterday, but let's have it straight: Stoke's forward line is after all probably the worst in the division.
O'Neill gave him a run out in DM recently.
I'd be interested to see if he could bring his calm approach to that position with us, too.

we'll receive a 5 million offer in the summer. it will be upfront so sullivan will start salivating already. however, being the shrewd businessman that he is, he'll squeeze a couple of million more and will feel all smug about it.

Re: Declan Rice
I think Declan had a great game yesterday and has looked very comfortable and assured in the 1st team, more so than Lampard and even Rio when they first broke through. A few posters have brought up mistakes he has made in games but, for ****'s sake, he is a kid learning his trade and will make errors, and we have Internationals and experienced players making mistakes more often! The board need to sign him up on a top notch contract before the season ends.

Re: Declan Rice
There was a lovely moment in the first half yesterday, when Oggy had difficulty in controlling a fairly routine ball played across the back and through his failure to control a moving ball with a Stoke attacker closing down on him, which momentarily, spelt danger, Rice bailed him out by moving across and closing the whole thing down. He had the aforethought to spot this and somehow he knew Oggy was in trouble before he knew it himself

What I like about him is that he is both a good defender and when there is space in front of him he moves into it with purpose and is able to pick a pass on the floor.

Sadly, I think the only way that's going to happen is if we build a squad that's capable of winning trophies. At the end of the day, he's a professional sportsman and he wants to win things. The days of world-class players like Brooking, and Moore and rest of the Holy Trinity hanging round to be the standout player at a **** club are long gone. I reckon Le Tissier was the last of that breed.
If next season is anything like this one, I reckon he'll be lining up alongside Stones at Citeh in the 19/20 season .... and he won't be the worst centre back in that pairing either.

Re: Declan Rice
yep. keeps improving every match. i kind of hope we don't sign any defenders this off season as it would send the wrong message to him. rice/ogbonna with reid/ginge as backup again please.
