Re: Declan Rice
reece oxford is on much more so why not offer him at least the same with it increasing per games played etc. He is our future and we should not mess around. how much were we paying evra for his 4 months 35k a week for what ?
sell a few and pay him 20-30k a week or we will lose him.

Re: Declan Rice
So apparently we are now at 'risk of losing him'
Another non story, from the delightful press, clearly trying to stir it up.
This time next week when the World Cup starts, this story wouldn't have even been considered.

Quite. No doubt they’d prefer him to be at a top 6 club.somerset-hammer wrote:So apparently we are now at 'risk of losing him'

I've wondered why press do what they do. Now i realise its because they have a willing audience who lap it up

Re: Declan Rice
.
Rice would earn in a year (£180k) what Carroll earns in just two months and what Chico earns in 6 weeks, both sitting on the bench
Man-of-match in recent international, when has Carroll done that?!? Not saying he should earn the same but it highlights the problems of managing young talent.

Re: Declan Rice
He should be on what Fredericks is on. Age is irrelevant.
8k a week with the wages being banded about is an insult.

Re: Declan Rice
If an offer has been made as suggested, it is a disgrace, I know it is still a lot of money, there are so many rumours of players leaving but one never seems to be mentioned, injury prone, does not deliver goals like other top strikers, and not worth what we pay him.

Re: Declan Rice
Especially when you consider that the (part time) baroness is taking double that out of the club each week....GaryP wrote: 8k a week with the wages being banded about is an insult.

Re: Declan Rice
It wasn't the club, it was C+H who are saying it was a £15k offer plus add-ons to take it up to £30k.
His agents want £20k base.

Re: Declan Rice
Yes you are right, apologies. He will be up for contract extension in new year so it can be amended then. The problem paying him £20k+ is that is sets a precedent and there’s no way we should be paying players just out of the academy that sort of money no matter how good they are. Can’t blame them for trying and he may be worth it but you have to see the club’s point of view.HammerMan2004 wrote:It was the club, it was C+H who are saying it was a £15k offer plus add-ons to take it up to £30k.

Re: Declan Rice
The biggest issue for me is not the amount, it's the amount of increase.
We were paying Antonio well and he had a decent few months scoring headers from perfect Payet deliveries, he was rewarded with a stonking increase and hasn't really delivered for 18 months since.
If you jump Rice from £8k/week to something ridiculous like £40k/week that I keep seeing fans crying out for on social media. Where is the motivation? He's 19 years old and would have "made it". It's the same thing that happens to all the youth players nowadays.
He could be the most level-headed kid in the world but deliver him the world at 19 years old and we'll ruin him.
Give him the £20k and tell him after another good year it can be reviewed again.

Re: Declan Rice
Agree with you completely HammerMan.
He’s far from established. Thrown in because of defensive injuries and did well. He will need to start to consistently perform and earn his place as a starter before he starts getting the big bucks.
If £15k plus add ons is correct, that’s fairly reasonable for a 19 year old with 27 league appearances.

Re: Declan Rice
It really goes to show how much we have all lost all sense of perspective when it comes to money I football.
I have to confess my initial outrage at seeing this 19 year old had apparently been offered a derisory £416,000 per year plus bonuses...
Then I realised the world has gone mad.
