Good on him - his form definitely deserves it and has shown he's not a flash in the pan player.

Hope he has a long and successful England career.

I was thinking something similar after I heard he'd been called up. My money's on Sterling to injure him!

We should start by playing our strongest side in the cups - no repeat of AFC Wimbledon.

There’s no question that the team selected should’ve beaten Wimbledon comfortably.

unless we get European football rice will be off next season. maybe making him the captain next season will keep him for another year. the longer the club stands still around 11th place the greater the chances of rice and others leaving.

Indeed. Should have but didn't.
A full strength team, including Rice would have been less likely to lose.

The more I've watched Declan i've noticed he doesn't have quick feet & his 1st step is very slow, making his 1st 5yds non competitive compared to most midfielders. Maybe that's why he's seen by some as a CB, I like him at DM, but don't think he will be an effective B2B due to sluggish movement.

Offensively, I see him more as a reinforcer reading the game, anticipating & picking up pieces behind our dancing ball players.

Defensively, I see him best as a CB shield specialist who can fill in too CB when Diop/Balbuena are either pulled out of position by our FB's or driving out of defense into midfield with their regular knack/ability of intercepting on the move.

So missing out on European football is "failure" now. :o

That's exactly the winning mentality our players need to have. Love how he's coming out with it, future England captain.

He's ambitious and knows this squad could and should probably have made Europe last season (if it wasn't for injuries), we definitely should be aiming for Europe.

I like him - he is a bit of a clown. Not sure that makes him good Captain material though.

Couldnt agree more. Whether the players should be coming out and saying it is another matter.

And if we don't make Europe....is that him off then?

To me if we try and fail that is one thing, if we don't try or just fail that is another.

I think coming out and saying it shows some intent - fine by me :scarfer:

Total class from Fabianski.

Interviewer - So, you've made the most saves in the PL two seasons running now.

Fabianski - "What should I say now just 'thank you to my team-mates'?"

He was excellent today.

It says a lot that he put in such a good performance and it has barely been mentioned. Because he pretty much is doing it every week.
