I think we have to go with the solid three at the back and aim to keep a clean sheet though I don't feel that necessarily needs to be overly defensive, but I also think we must go with form so players see that playing well leads to starts irrespective of salaries, fees, status etc.

The only question in my head is whether Collins, Ogbonna or Noble fills the one vacancy - with Kouyate moving around the team to accommodate them. I reckon Slav would go for Noble.

Subs to include Adrian, Carroll, Antonio, Ayew, Arnie....remainder depend on fitness. When all's said and done - Hernandez and Sakho have been scoring goals.

We can actually sling on a completely changed front three and will have an £80m-£90m bench - kinda makes it obvious just how strong this squad really is. :shock:

Unless injuries materialise, several useful players are not even going to make the bench.

I think this team has the potential to be fluid and slick, and that it can easily be changed to a 4-3-1-2 without making a sub.

There are so many options.

Gold has just said on twatter that Slav has a fully fit squad except for Collins and Quina...

But I’m sure a few of our first team will be shattered after the national appearances...

Still it’s a nice thought to know we are going into our first game of season with a fit squad and players we need

I can see us taking 3 points here if we put in the effort... I would not be disappointed with a draw though... for me it will be the performance that matters more than the result...

I think people are underestimating Burnley. Although, as ever, I want us to win I'd settle for a draw as being a good result.

Sadly our commitment and focus generally only lasts between one and two games.

So Saturday will see an indifferent approach mixed with a couple of individual errors putting Burnley 2 up. Slav will shake his head and in the second half we will rediscover the need to actually work hard and Ayew will pull one back. Post manager conference will be how we came so close to getting a deserved point and we will work hard to make sure next week is better. It seems to me that we work hard Monday to Friday and forget what hard work is come Saturday.

Nobody has been able to constantly motivate a West Ham team since John Lyall.

Most of this lot are still spineless lead swingers.

Is it simple enough to get back to Manchester after the game? My train to London is 19.35.

The last time I was at Turf Moor was with the Irons Travel Club.

Burnley Manchester Road --> Manchester Victoria --> Manchester Piccadilly takes roughly 90 minutes but only runs once an hour, Otherwise its a train to wigan/preston and transferring. You should have at least half an hour to spare either way.

While your looking into that crystal ball is there any chance you could message me the winning jackpot lottery results for Saturday mate... with that I won’t care if you are right or not !! ;)

The game is going to be hard against this lot away....regardless it will give us a chance to see where Slav wants to go with this squad now he has a full list to pick from...

It will I think say a lot about whether his critics are right about him generally as manager or if it will go to prove just how difficult his job is given the players he has in terms of balance and weak areas...

Just a shame that on top of that he and the players knows his job is as good as over with us and he has no support from our club owners.... this alone is a weight that very few could carry no matter how good you are as a player or manager....

Anyone heard anymore about the fall out with Arnie....???
