Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
My team
4-4-1-1 to start
the back 8 to work as a drilled unit, hit on counter or targeting big Andy on set pieces.
Hart
Zab Reid Ogbonna (Collins if fit) Cresswell
Antonio Noble, Obiang, Kouyate
Lanzini
Carroll
who ever is playing furthest left in midfield out of Noble, Obiang or Kouyate needs to tuck in more to allow the maurading Cresswell to overlap for crosses into Andy, Antonio to do damage the other side.
Sakho to come on for Andy last 30, maybe Ayew on for Noble, pushing Lanzini wide left where he can cut in.
Arnie really is a dilemma isnt he?

Carroll should only ever be used as an impact sub imo ! start sakho for this gameLord Zoltan wrote:My team

According to a site which I won't name, Antonio and Reid will not be ready for this match.

So central defence is going to be 2 from Collins, Ogbonna, and Rice I presume. Doesn't leave me overly confident if I'm honest.

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
Masuaku has the cross and dribbling ability of a top left winger, but Cress is certainly a little more consistent defensively. When we are shipping goals, does it make sense to start a luxury left back? It's tricky because I don't think Cresswell has been that much better than him in terms of marking/positioning etc...but he may be just better enough to start in a conservative approach.Phil S wrote:I'm staggered that so many pick Cress over Fuka
no comparison imo
There is a comparison though, they are not miles apart in fact they are a headache for the manager.

Which will be quite funny, because people will herald Moyes as giving youth a chance, when it would've happened anyway.bubbles500 wrote:So that’s fonte byram Hernandez Antonio reid out. Will have to be some kids on bench then.

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
It's time we stopped seeing ourselves as bigger than any other club and fight for every point.
An improbable 0-2 win for the Hammers.

Boston, I think Cress is a pretty poor defender, in fact all round he's poor other than the occasional cross
I honestly thing Arthur is better all round than him, including defensively
imo

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
I'm going to go for a morale boosting win.
We won't see the full impact of Moyes and his coaching team for a few weeks yet though. They'll have barely spent any time at all with those on international duty. I'm hoping for an increase in intensity, but not expecting a complete transformation in our playing style just yet.

When exactly did Antonio do his hamstring? Was fine for 97 mins for Palace. Then after being utterly vilified for the corner flag incident he hasn’t been seen again?
Oh hang on one twitter story says hamstring another bruised ribs. The Brighton game was 5 weeks ago.

Re: Watford v West Ham Utd: match thread
Reid only lands back in the country on Friday having played in NZ and Peru this week so they will have to see how he is. A rest on Saturday and he will be fine! I am sure he will fly business so it is not like he will be squashed up all the way home with a kid screaming in his ear and banging the back of his seat.Burnley Hammer wrote:According to a site which I won't name, Antonio and Reid will not be ready for this match.
I thought Antonio was expected to be out until late November? Wasn't expecting him to be included. Would like to see him, but don't expect it.

Think they will win 1-0. We will set up defensively going by titbits I’ve heard from Moyes so far and he will learn the hard way that West Ham no matter the personnel no matter the opposition, we just can not sit back and soak up pressure without conceeding.
Likely be Deeney the goal scorer too, around 77th minute or so

I would say, in our squad, the nearest equivalent Moyes will have is Andre Ayew. The role Cahill had was to play back up striker who drops back and fights for the ball making a five. He wasn't there to pass or dribble.Patito wrote:Good in the air though, and a completely different type of player to Lanzini.
Lanzini is our best player (IMO) but I am not sure how well he fits a Moyes team.
