Transfer Window: January 2018

Postby Peaches on Sat Dec 02, 2017 7:20 pm

We are now in December. The transfer window is less than a month away. By the time it starts we will most likely still be in the relegation zone and possibly in last place. The squad is inadequate, imbalanced, unmotivated, too old, too slow and largely filled with mercenaries. We desperately need a shakeup, we need to add players, get rid of players and reshape the squad.
I’ll start with suggestions for outs:
: Sakho : has tried to leave twice already, doesn’t want to be here
Ogbonna: Not suited to the English game, great on the ball, but loses concentration and needs too much time. Also 29 and not many more opportunities to get a fee for him
Obiang: no explanation needed
Carroll: too slow, too injury prone, also last chance for a fee
There are others who need to go, but there is a finite number of players we can turn over mid season.
We need younger hungrier better hard working players to come in it is going to be hard to attract anyone but I would go for
Lascelles and Hayden from Newcastle, Mawson from Swansea, see if we can tempt a Liverpool to loan Solanke, and Harry Arter from Bournemouth as I highly doubt we have any chance at bringing William Carvalho in now. I still think Wilshere would be a cracking signing but his fitness remains a gamble.

We're not getting out if this and **** if I can see it, so too can the two Dave's. We should use this window to start clearing the decks in readiness for life in the Championship. Clear out as many of the old brigade as possible, get in younger, fitter players and give game time to young guns like Martinez, Haksabanovic, Samuelson and Quina.

find it hard to give a toss. the horse has bolted.

sully had a choice to get a top tier player in the exact position we needed strengthening most for a very decent price, he ****ed him off, threw the last honest man at the club under the bus and plunged our reputation further into the cold dead earth.

Any suggestion that isn't either:

a) a loan;
b) a lower league player;
c) a player who will insist on a ludicrous wage and a relegation escape clause;

can automatically be discarded.

As for outs - how many of them have played well this season? None of them? They could almost sling the lot out.

Arguing about which one is better than another in most positions is the epitome of a bunch of spamheads arguing over a comb.

What's this year's equivalent of Robbie Keane?

We will be linked with some very good players. We will end up with none of them but will be told "we tried" "we almost had"

Then we will get 1 or 2 "Meh" Loan deals in. A couple of players shifted on and next to no money spent.

Who of any worth or substance will join a bottom 3 - perhaps bottom - side in January? We are going to attract nobody and we have owners who will absolutely not throw money at the predicament to try to bring in some quality. I think what you see is what you get until the final whistle in May 18. Rock and a hard place.

There’s no money, the owners have never been prepared to invest there own cash, and always hide behind FFP b*llocks if they get called out.

They weren’t prepared to shell out for the manager they actually wanted, so don’t expect them to shell out for players that could actually make a difference

Scum owners.

Thinking about it we will most likely bring back Robert Snodgrass. "It's like a brand new Signing"

What's Ravel up to these days?

I don't care who joins us or not. They will not be WHU. They will be a series of new mercenaries looking for a paycheck. We've done it to ourselves. Lose the core of what you are and nothing good will stick to you. We need a complete rebuild.

I wouldn't turn down any reasonable offer for any of our squad, even Lanzini. In my eyes he's playing now like Payet did when he had a case of the fukkits. The only problem is we have too many ageing players on long contracts, just going through the motions well inside their comfort zone. We'll be lucky to shift anyone bar the little Argentinian.

We've had our differences down the years, but most of the time, actually, I think you write a lot of very good stuff

Why let them off the hook? Absolutely 100% reject any notion of not spending hard. Why should Sullivan and co get away without spending again. Let them try and buy there way out of trouble. They don’t need any excuse to not spend again. So don’t give them the opportunity.

Absent some surprise results this month I reckon zero spend. Manager on 6mth deal, bottom of the table - why would any half decent player sign and to be honest not sure want another Fonte or two clogging up the squad and wages for a Championship fight next season.

Can Snodgrass be worse than some of those we have - Arnie for example has produced next to nothing.

What I do not get is how Cresswell, Reid, Ogbonna, Kouyate, Obiang, Noble, Antonio, Lanzini and Carroll - first teamers who were all around for the Payet season can have become so crap.

Will excuse Adrian as he has not played and Collins because of injury.

In the summer most thought 4 or so players and we were fine, in fact we probably needed 9 first teamers we have been so poor.

Yes Carvalho may have made a difference - not know enough about him - but doubt he would make up for the general rubbish most have produced.
