And Klopp as well when he said that all the time it took on the three first half VAR decisions (close to 10 minutes) were not reflected in first half extra time, considering you then had two injuries and two subs as well.

Boavista conceded a blatantly offside goal against Rio Ave, with the referee asking for VAR assistance.

Unfortunately for Boavista the goal stood as the camera was blocked by a flag in the stands.

When I first saw the replay, long before the TMO made his decision, I said "He's not going to give that".

First impression was he patted the side of the ball onto the ground and what looked like 'downward pressire' (I know that's no longer the criterion) was the ball rebounding onto his still descending hand. Just my view and the TMO agreed with it.

I used to think, wouldn't it be great if referees had real-time access to video replays, for contentious decisions.

I was wrong.

Now confirmed for the World Cup

It’s gonna be this ones weird Adidas ball - ie; the excuse for boring slow stopped games

Said it before and I’ll say it again: the further the pro game moves from sainc played by kids on the Marshes, the worse the game gets.

VAR is awful for the game.

Another issue in the game at The Liberty today, which resulted in our old mucker Stelling asking if the R in VAR, stands for ridiculous.

PL clubs vote against VAR for next season

Premier League clubs have voted not to use the video assistant referee (VAR) system for next season.

The clubs agreed that advanced testing on the use of the video technology will continue to the end of 2018-19.

Premier League officials want the system to be implemented for FA Cup and League Cup matches again next term.

..............................

The decision not to bring in the system next season was made at a Premier League shareholders meeting in London on Friday, when all 20 member clubs voted.

A statement said the clubs "recognised and are grateful for the substantial developments made" by referees chief Mike Riley and his team.

With VAR in the champions league the bidippers would probably have gone out.

First leg - good goal for Man City chalked out, offside goal for lpool allowed. Result 2-1 instead of 3-0

second leg - good goal for Man City chalked out when 1-0 up. Man city now lead on aggregate 3-2. Chances are they go on to win from there....

Funny how that can be spun differently:
https://www.premierleague.com/news/662543 headlines it as
"Clubs Agree To Continue Testing Of VAR "

"Premier League Clubs have today agreed to continue advanced testing of Video Assistant Referees (VAR) throughout the 2018/19 season. "

I actually hate VAR more than GSB, unbelievably!

On the basis that GSB can only **** up one club (unfortunately that’s us) whereupon VAR will **** up everyone

I can't believe it's going to be used in the World Cup when a fair number of the participating refs st the tourney have never worked with it before. It's going to blow up somehow at the Cup.

They’ll find a way of some poor Mexican or Ugandan referee and VAR being to “blame” for Russia reaching at least the Quarter Finals. You can script it in advance.

I look forward to some of the wannabe Andy Grays going quiet when it stifles a major World Cup game because some official has decided it’s all about them and not a game of football or those playing it.

best thing for football long term would be for us or say another major nation to get knocked out by a completely wrong VAR decision leading to major uproar.

Maybe Russia as this might cause major riots that would embarrass FIFA

Then and only the will they scrap the dreadful idea once and for all.

Edit* Or for the final to be decided on it
