When it was used in that France vs Spain friendly, the delay to review the goal was about 40 - 50 seconds. By which time the euphoria and moment had passed by the time a decision was eventually made.

It will open pandoras box as well as a host of new fangled gamesmanship techniques, far removed from the Corinthian spirit of the game.

Would be better if the referees could just improve.

A controversial goal at the end of the Brighton game and to be honest I didn't see much delay in awarding the goal and can't even be sure if the VAR was used. It looked similar to the Bournemouth goal against us except this time the ball didn't touch Murrays hand and the goal was awarded far quicker and with far less drama. :eh:

The howls of outrage on 606 and twatter about a CORRECT DECISION.

Sometimes officials just cant win.

I really don't understand the confusion. Ref thought it was fair, gives the goal. VAR has a quick look, sees no reason to tell ref on the field to look again. Play on. Seamless and efficient.

Crystal Palace players calling for the ref to take a look at his pitch side screen is just another way for players to try and intimidate referees or unduly influence them.

What is frustrating is that the VAR system already seems complicated and over egged. They should look to the rugby union TMO as someone has already said, where everyone can see the incident, everyone can hear the decision making. Rugby can be much harder to referee due to the grey areas and interpretations yet the TMO in rugby is widely accepted as a good think.

Seen tons of games with VAR on this side of the pond with MLS. Hasn't been an issue - used strictly for the same four categories.

Am sure it has probably added seconds/minutes to overall length of games - don't have the data but there must be numbers somewhere.

Doesn't get used very much - most I've seen in person is once per match.

Pros include that it seems to stop players from acting like big time charlies and interfering with the refs for certain decisions.

V.A.R. can't be worse than that.

.

it can if VAR decided there was no conclusive evidence of offside or handball.
And dont tell me it wont happen.

No, not with Leicester also included in that, no way would we have been allowed to water down the Champs League viewing figures any further.

That was plastic Chelsea and Arsenal fans, don't think either of them have ever come up with a unique witty chant for themselves.... they are basically as bad as it gets... their only songs seem to be *club name* repeated to a different tune.

Every poor decision will now be met with 'If we had VAR how different the result might have been.'

It's coming soon.
