Not really sure how you can say that a club with a 57k stadium in london that came for free are the same as everyone else. Spurs are building a £1bn stadium without a sugar daddy owner and still competing for top 4. Spurs also aren’t guaranteed CL so how exactly are they doing that and we are skint. When essentially the only difference between the clubs is CL of which they’ve only had for 2 years and as said isn’t guaranteed. Because there seems a bloody big gap between a £1bn investment and being skint.

We are run by awful owners. Everyone knows that in the football world hence we have to pay top draw wages to get players to come to us. Money talks.

We have no funds left to spend due to FPP despite being cash rich.

Joe Hart on £125K a week, Chicarito on £120K a week, Carrol on £80K a week all adds up.

Payet was on a monster wedge. Fegouli was on something stupid like £50K a week!

We pay well because that's the only incentive of coming to Westham.

Now we are in a situation where there are no more funds, players are on long expensive contracts and our form cant even attract anyone new.

It will be all last grasp end of career transfers this window.

As much as Joe Lewis owns Spurs and is clearly very rich, Spurs are being run as a business and a very tight one at the moment, he has never pumped money into Spurs in the same way as Abramovich or the guys at Man City.

The new stadium is being paid for by bank loans secured against future income combined with player trading revenue and the NFL deal.

http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premier ... ve-seasons

Look at Spurs' net spend over the last 5 years it is 400k per season, all Spurs' TV money is going on the stadium. West Ham in that time have spend over £100m more than Spurs on transfers, Man City have spent 500m more

Our wages in the last set of accounts are 48% of turnover, West Ham's are 60%. Spurs are many things but a bankrolled club just doesn’t fit what's happening.

The difference between a very well run club and a very poorly run one.

As a previous poster said on this thread, our owners simply aren't very good at this industry. What made them successful in porn has not worked in football. Though I suppose one must admit that they are, as an old boss of mine described an industry colleague he despised, failing upwards!

Quite. Been a very well run club from a business/financial perspective for years now.

Not wanting to make this thread about Sulli Jnr but I've just seen those pictures for the first time and it's made me feel a little bit ill!

I knew he'd done the interview but I swerved reading it as I didn't find it relevant to myself or West Ham, but I think it's pretty damn well clear to see that us West Ham fans have probably made a tidy contribution to Jnr having some of those things in his pad.

I cannot believe this is happening to our club.

One Peter Butler wrote:I think HMRC seized it all when they raided last year.

I would like to know why they have never commented anything about that raid. I know one has to be careful in legal proceedings but a controlled statement via lawyers could have been put together.

There was a controlled statement. After Newcastle lost their action as to an unlawful search HMRC welcomed the finding and said they could now look at the material as the injunction prevented them from doing so beforehand.

The comparison with spurs is very revealing. The problem is that the current owners are the latest in a long line of mis-managers. When the Icelandic fantasy millionaires turned out to be skint we were left owing millions. The dildo brothers probably saved us from administration but (and it's their money) failed to put anything of their own cash into the club. Hence we're still paying for past mistakes. It's a bit like my own finances, I'm still paying for some good times 10 years ago. Unfortunately West Hams good times were few and far between. What happens to Spurs if things go wrong on the pitch though? Hate to see that happen of course

Then you didn't read the article very thoroughly, did you?

Junior's understanding is that his father is a billionaire because he has spent his life bringing pleasure to countless people through soft pornography. That's either the line he's been fed all his life, or a line that he has agreed to perpetuate, whenever he gets the chance. The reality is something different.

As for the whereabouts of the money, that's obviously a bit of a thorny problem that they've gambled against us actually spending much time wondering about.

Some sage on here posted the opinion some time ago that football is the closest we get to religion in terms of the faith and hopes invested in the badge, shirt, players and results. There's a very realistic point to that kind of attitude, which is effectively one that faith and hope trumps all other considerations.

That is what the board banked on. They could see that this was a club which, no disrespect, out-stripped Birmingham City in terms of the size and strength of the paying support. We must have had twice as many STH and probably more than that factor of travelling fans (who, of course, would be buying new shirts etc every season). We were like the ripest and juiciest fruit hanging within their reach on the tree.

It was however all a gamble. They are small-time, in terms of outlook and attitude. They are largely risk-averse at the same time as capable of making the most extraordinarily bad deals (i.e. the Carroll deal, or the recent Reid extension).

It is all based on two basic things: (a) the TV money will not get reduced or, worse, turned off and (b) there are sufficient number of true supporters who will keep going, thick or thin, the kind of people who gobble up the allocation at Shrewsbury, Doncaster, even further afield, even if we are playing them in the second tier. The sort of people who didn't just know that the move would be a disaster, but see and feel that very fact every time they still go to the ground, but still renew their season tickets.

They are greedy misers. The money available to the club is largely illusory.

Just trying to put the facts out there :).

Also it shows that the Daves are spending a reasonable amount of money on transfers and wages.
