Don't quote facts to their misty eyed view on Clough  Saying that, Clough did have that "spell" and Nottingham Forest, with my favourite ever club badge, were a special side under him.

I don't get the hate for Pep from a managing/coaching perspective. Yes he buys the best players, so do many other coaches/managers, but he turns those stars into a team, a proper team, we can all see how good Man City are with the ball, but watch them when they don't have the ball, how they get it back, that is top coaching, and his teams are just that, a team.

Money generated by the club not mega rich owners, Forest were run by a committee at the time. The fact that Clough and Taylor knew who to spend money on. John Robertson was a midfielder, hardly played and was on the transfer list when Clough went to Nottingham. From Wikipedia,

Brian Clough, Robertson's manager at Nottingham Forest, was quoted as saying "John Robertson was a very unattractive young man. If one day, I felt a bit off colour, I would sit next to him. I was bloody Errol Flynn in comparison. But give him a ball and a yard of grass, and he was an artist, the Picasso of our game."[1] In his autobiography Clough noted that "Rarely could there have been a more unlikely looking professional athlete... [He was a] scruffy, unfit, uninterested waste of time...but something told me he was worth persevering with." but that "[He] became one of the finest deliverers of a football I have ever seen – in Britain or anywhere else in the world – as fine as the Brazilians or the supremely gifted Italians."[2] Robertson's captain at Forest, John McGovern, later said that "John Robertson was like Ryan Giggs but with two good feet, not one. He had more ability than Ryan Giggs, his ratio of creating goals was better and overall he was the superior footballer", whilst Forest coach Jimmy Gordon rated Robertson as a better player than Tom Finney and Stanley Matthews, claiming that he "had something extra on top".[3]

Have I Got News For You @haveigotnews

Man City fans said to be taking FA cup exit well, as many of them still have their Wigan shirts from before Sheikh Mansour took over.

Clough had already won the title with Derby by spending very little.
Shilton cost only £250,000 which was a lot less then what Stoke had originally paid for him.
Forest also won the title BEFORE they signed Francis.
He built great teams out of nothing and spent money that his team's had generated.

Chelsea team looks weak for a game against Barcelona, Christensen, Moses, Alonso, Kante, William and Pedro, all out of their depth tonight

I make you half right; reckoning, in fact, that Kante, Willian and Pedro are, on their day, good enough to go toe to toe against Barca.

Still expect them to go out, over the two legs, mind.

Chelsea have a greak knack for doing Barcelona over, better than all the other english sides. I fancy them tonight.

Chelsea's playing like us with reasonable success thus far. I suppose this is what life in a Euro super league might look like for them.

Lionel Messi waltzes through Chelsea's midfield with Ngolo Kante chasing after him was like the end of those old Benny Hill shows

Struggling to watch the Chelsea game, every player goes down screaming at the slightest touch and the ref is buying it. Cheating plain and simple.

Was just checking to see if I could find the Chelsea v Barcelona head to head stats.

One site I did find said that Chelsea have Won 9 Drawn 2 and Lost 3 when playing Barcelona in Europe.

If that is true, then bloody hell, fair play to Chelsea that is stunning.

Tonight has rekindled my hatred of Suarez. I’m so glad we don’t see him every week in this country anymore
