Jumby after the lineups Moyes put out in the FA Cup what makes you think he'd be particularly bothered about a pre-season Europa League play off? He'd play half a team, some kids and Astra Gurgilo or whatever they're called would embarrass us a third time! In any case, with five of the big six to play, we will not get near seventh place. Could we please avoid relegation first and then worry about sorting out our squad for next term. :fsake:

Leicester have the Mahrez issue and they also have a home draw to Sheffield United in the 5th round of the cup. If they win that and get a nice QF draw the temptation to chase the FA Cup will be pretty strong.

Everton are probably the team with no distractions and the 4 point jump, but it's not inconceivable that we could be playing them for it on the last day of the season.

I think we get to play Man U (that will be rearranged), Man C, Chelsea and Arsenal at a time that could be very kind.

Sorry mate, but yes it is.

We would need to win at least 5 if not 6 of our last 11 games. There is Zero chance of that happening.

There is more chance of Man City screwing up and finishing 2nd than there is of us picking up another 17+ points.

We won 7 of 9 in 2007 - so there clearly isn't 'zero chance'.

You may feel it's improbable, but we are talking about a 4 point gap with 11 games to go. That's perfectly doable - especially if we beat them in the head to head.

I absolutely disagree.

I think we could do it. Yes it would mean we would need to show good form, and beat them on the last day, but there's no reason why we can't make up that gap.

Moyes v Allardyce in a play-off to see who has to play four more matches in July? We'd both play our U18s!

Only six points off seventh, yet 20 points off fifth. Really is a two-class league this year, and it's all down to money.

Could be a different ground for any July games, maybe we'll play in spurs new stadium before they do !!

What would be the point in us finishing 7th & getting into the Europa League knock out stages? we'll just get knocked out straight away.

Do you think we'd take the Europa league remotely serious? recent history has suggested we have absolutely no interest in cup competitions, European or Domestic.

It's not that I don't think our squad is good enough to get to the group stages, because it is, but we don't have the ambition.

Our only ambition, every season, is to not get relegated.

It’s why the poor results against Bournemouth and Palace at home and Brighton away are even more annoying, not to mention our two robbed points at Bournemouth away as well.

That’s also sometimes the difference between being happy with a point oppose to chucking on another forward and going for all three.

Just like the Moyes thread, and to be fair any other... it’s all irrelevant whilst G&S are still here.

The aim is stay on the gravy train spending as little as possible... nothing else matters

Stadium is available from 1 August this summer so finishing 7th would mean we don’t have a stadium to play early home games in

With the WC not ending till the 2nd week in July, when would the Europa league start?

Usually the last Thursday in July/first Thursday in August for a team entering in the third round.

If memory serves , we switched our home game v Domzale two years ago because of Stratford.

It works out to about three extra competitive games - a couple of which would be friendly dates.

“Athletics World Cup” takes place around 14-15 July, I don’t know exact dates for Europa but we’d need to get very lucky with it to get a home match.

“West Ham fixtures will always take priority” (Karren Brady, 2016)
