West Ham Utd 0-3 Burnley: match thread (10/03/18)

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
We don't have a midfield , so all Burnley have to do is just turn up while we roll out the red carpet leaving Noble and Kouyate to just wave them through. Unless we can somehow bolster up that midfield, we are a 'dead team walking'. Maybe stick Byram into right midfield , Rice behind Noble (to cover his lack of pace), but who can we have left midfield ? Mario? Up front , it has to be Arnie and either Lanzini , Chic or Antonio . I'd opt for Lanzini or Chic for 45 mins and replace with Antonio for the last 45 mins (because that's about all he can manage). If Lanzini can't hack a physical game ( he is a powderpuff! ) stick Hugill up with Arnie and play more direct balls.
Adrian
Zab, Collins, Ogbonna, Creswell
Byram , Rice, Noble, Mario
Arnie , Lanzini (or Chic or Antonio or Hugill)

I don't. Our owners have failed to spend on defenders ever since they've been here, preferring to waste the money on 54 strikers(or whatever the number is).only1post wrote:I find it amazing that Burnley are comfortable in 7th having scored just 24 goals, a dozen less than us, and only West Brom in 20th have scored less.
I also find it amazing that we have conceded 54, joint worst in the division.

It would seem our best hope at the moment is that Burnley take their foot off the gas now they've reached 40pts.
Next two games are massive, we need 4pts.

I've seen this and the suggestion they've nothing to play for... they are 7th - and may fancy playing in Europe....Simply Moore wrote:It would seem our best hope at the moment is that Burnley take their foot off the gas now they've reached 40pts.

It does not amaze you that we have already conceded more goals than we have in 14 Premier League seasons since it went to 38 games.Rocketron wrote: I don't. At this rate by the end of the season goals against would be over 70, 8 worse than the record of 62 put past us in 2015/16.
All achieved when this seasons defensive players and our coaching teams having amassed close to 600 international caps.
I am sorry but I find that amazing. How could all that experience not find a way to concede less.

I can't see anything but a defeat I'm afraid.
we need spirit and fight but I'm starting to believe alot of our players really are not interested.
0-2

We'll win this, but it only papers over the cracks. Just like last season...I cannot wait for the end of May to get here.

another must win or bust game.
Adran-
collins----Ogbonna-----cresswell
zabaleta rice noble lanzini antonio
arnie Hernandez
subs hart byran kouyate Mario hughill Cullen haksagbonovic
rice in the middle with noble to give some legs. drop kouyate as he offers nothing currently.
mario on for lanzini at half time if n improvement
likewise hughill for hernandez if he is having no joy.
no idea what score will be or if we will turn up !

Confidence low, off field issues muddying the water, a lack of belief about the club......
Burnley to score early and do what they should have done last season over there which was to bury us but we somehow contrived to fluke a noble pen (a **** pen at that!!) and win.
I can smell fear.

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
it boils down to who wants to fight or who wants to get out of the club or be lazy
fighters we have: noble Collins ogbonna arnie zabaleta and maybe Antonio adrian
bottlers/lazy sods: cresswell lanzini kouyate Hernandez
we need to get some pace into the team so I expect to see rice and byran added to it
we have enough to beat burnley but will we turn up ?
sean dyche or eddie howe are the type of managers we should have been after. no chance now and we are stuck with moyes 8 at the back !

I would like to see Rice in midfield and Kouyate at CB.
Got to start with Arnie and Antonio plus, for me, Hughill.
We need movement in midfield and up front. Done it before, we can do it again.
Just have to make a game of this.

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
Burnley are a hard working team, and very organised. This game comes down to attitude for me, we match their spirit and hard work and our front three should win the game for us.
We don't match their spirit/hard work, we lose, it as that simple for me.
I am also so ****ing meh about the game as well. If it wasn't for the march (is it on or not?) I may well have swerved this one.

Adrian needs to be taken out of the firing line. I think he is possibly a little punch drunk.
Antonio must start .... Chico will have to drop to the bench.
Badly need Ginge and Ogbonna back to deal with the basic set pieces.
Watch the Dutch geezers goal straight from the corner where he is 'marked' by Rice .... that will tell you why Declan needs to stay out of the side.

Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
Says a lot about our situation where a "turgid" 1-0 performance with a penalty being the difference and the post named as man of the match would be the height of my aspirations on this one and I'd grab it with both hands. Though in reality I think they'll come out at us fast and hard, if they get an early goal (or two) I can see our heads going down and us falling apart at the back. Let's see as I said a "turgid" 1-0 would be fine for me this time.

Burnley will score at least 3. We will score 1 at the most.
Re: West Ham Utd v Burnley: match thread
I actually fancy our chances in this more than I did the swansea game. 2-1 West Ham
