In steps Bilic to send us down! But no seriously why did they get rid of Puel? he got them to a cup final ffs and they should have won if not for a dodgy linesman.

Puel led them to a cup final and an eigth place finish, apparently the fans found him boring

Thing is they have 3 weeks to get someone in and get them drilled. Combine that with the new manager uplift that sometimes happens, this could be interesting. I wonder who is available for them to get in?
I have a feeling it will be Marco Silva

I wonder if they will get a manager in on a 6 month contract that got his last club relegated. I'm guessing not.

New manager comes in, with plenty of time to work with the squad and get his ideas across before they take on a demoralised, unmotivated West Ham. Their new guy will have the easiest team talk ever...keep it tight, sit in, counter attack with balls over the top, nick one goal and we will win by three as they will implode.

Lose to these and bye, bye Premier league...and I honestly do not think that is a bad thing.

Puel should have had a League Cup win if it weren't for the lino. the comments on his style were just silly. He's a pragmatist first, he didn't play fancy football because he didn't have the players to make it work. The guy won a league title and reached a Champions League Final with Monaco playing good football, because he had the players. At Leicester, he has the players to play a more adventurous style and he's done that.

Without Austin they have no goals, Long should be in the Championship, Gabbadini has done nothing since starting on fire when he came in, Carillo for 20 mil with is goal record was a baffling signing with his goal record. Add in Boufal has one Payet-esque game every 15, Redmond is a load of hot air and always very lazy/moody, then they've sold every CB they had Lovren, Van Djk, Fonte, Alderweild went to Tottenham after his loan spell.

The other really odd thing is on paper Puel, done excellent finished 8th and a cup final but the fans hated his play style and the players disliked him to, but it's obvious his methods were far better.

.

Which all goes to show how tough the market for players is if you can't afford, like City, Man U etc to spend £50m on full backs. Generally, Southampton have not got a big net spend (like us) but they have invested and when several of those more substantial buys don't pay off then you are in trouble. I'm not excusing our transfer policy - we have clearly been short of quality upgrades in a several areas - but if, like Southampton, we had spent another £30 million on a dud, we'd still be in the sh*t. As Spuds have shown, it takes a decade of a carefully scouted recruitment, a significant net spend, and a director of football or chairman who actually knows the football market place to make any difference.

fingers crossed they get hughes. silva is a very decent manager who had an immediate impact at hull and slav would have our number, not to mention that i'm sure hughes is at the top of GSB's shopping list for next potential manager.

Another club hits the panic button.

Maybe we should just let the filthy rich clubs feck off and join some soopa doopa full time euro league, which they once threatened, a sealed no way in or out league and let the rest form a new division 1, give football a chance to survive.

The games ****ed

We are heading in one direction, I think we should give Moyes the boot and start preparing for life in the Championship now, I'd like Silva but he will want to go to a better run club than us.
