I have been generally impressed by the way Southampton have managed their affairs over the first five years of their return to the Premier League. It was economically sound, and it was an approach which has brought them to cup finals, and European Football. They have also generated a new coterie of England international, and have been sensible in their employment of good managers.

The wheels came off when the sacked Puel. Their signings have become less and less reliable, and their latest managerial selection was simply not good enough.

Sky reporting that Hughes is very close to becoming the next boss of Southampton, how do we fair against Hughes' teams?

His record against us as manager of various clubs in P 22 W6 D6 L10.

He actually has better records against Man city, Arsenal, & Everton. Of course history is history and we shouldn't read into it too much.

Appointed Hughes. They will get a bounce, I really have a feeling they downed tools ages ago and we will see the old Southampton in 2 weeks. Awful timing for us.

The Southampton defeat will be blamed on the fans, relegation will be blamed on the fans.

Sensible appointment of Hughes given the circumstances. 3 successive 9th places since taking over from Pulis and now with a stronger squad than he had at Stoke. Horrific run in though once they’ve beaten us.

Who is :kumb:’s luckiest match thread starter? I’m not even that superstitious but I’ll do anything for 3 points now. Please Step forwards.
In fact, who was the match thread starter for stoke away?

Didn’t Hughes say he was too good of a manager to be involved in relegation battles? :D

I’ve only ever started one, we lost 3-0 to Reading, Collison was sent off after Kebe pulled his socks up.

If you think we are gonna be relegated why sack Moyes now? What purpose would that serve?

The Independent were running a piece about 6 British managers that have been employed 25 times between 10 clubs. Next time these ****ers go on about British managers getting no chance its because these old school cloggers are blocking their path.
