What is great about a 34 year old striker with a knackered knee that scored three league goals last season? Nothing, unless you are David Sullivan.

How can we be 'very close', unless the bloke has already been interviewed and they just need to iron out finer details?
Who's already been interviewed?
Also
the Board are extremely confident of appointing a high-calibre first-team manager, who has a proven record both in the Premier League and European football.
Now do they mean, someone who has a record or both, or really mean someone who has a proven track record in either?

Do clubs "interview" managers they head-hunt?
I can't imagine a top quality manager having an interview. A meeting and/or negotiation, yes; an interview, no.
Meanwhile, we're linked with this bloke

"West Ham United would like to assure supporters that the Board are extremely confident of appointing a high-calibre first-team manager, who has a proven record both in the Premier League and European football.
Making the brave assumption that Sullivan isn't bullshitting, quite a few names are easily eliminated using that criteria. We are preparing to appoint a manager who has a proven record of success at the highest level of the game."

Praet is alright...If we are going to try and buy players from Samp again Linetty or Torreira would be better.
Torreira especially would add more to our midfield.

If we sign the Wally with the brolly I'm off. I spent countless hours talking to my kids about the irons how we always try our best, and if Gene Kelly turns up that will finish me. No ambition, no money is the West Ham Way, but this is no feckin idea time. he can feck off and Gold ,Sullivan, Baroness Hardon and their henchmen can go as well.
Re: Summer Transfer Window 2018- 84 days remaining
That’s not true. Most of the league have played a wing back system at various points over the season. Man Utd played it only the other week against us, Spurs used wing backs for a portion of the season, as did Arsenal, while Man City seemed to prefer that system early on when Mendy was fit.Crouchend_Hammer wrote:
we shouldn't be playing with wing backs. The only teams outside of Chelsea who did were WBA, Stoke, Swansea, us and Watford, and three of them got relegated!
and Antonio is not a very good one anyway

thought someone (and not Hugh ) reported that he wanted to wait until after the WC (probably to see if anyone better comes in) to make a decision......
