Take a bow whoever came up with that headline.

But it should have been obvious it was a load of flannel a long time ago – for a Director of Football to have any useful influence they'd need to be bedded in well before they started making decisions. The very nature of the role is that you track players over time and make decisions based upon your deep knowledge of the current squad. So if they were serious he would have been employed by now to try and get the system in place ready for the next transfer window.

The idea that he was going to employ a DoF in June who immediately started doing the job effectively a few days later is a nonsense. Though given Sullivan's knowledge of football matters, it's possible he does just think it's a man who says yay or nay to a list of names he sends over on an email.

Why would anyone believe a pathological liar?

Of course he’ll renegade on a commitment .... easier for him now they divided the fan base and stopped previous supporter momentum.

Trust them at your peril.

The **** Sullivan now has another fall-guy in Moyes who he can pin the blame on for going back on a promise.

Not surprised at all, he is a lying ****.

Well, he is making my decision of not renewing a very easy one.

If this article is true then for me 1 of 2 things:

1 - Moyes has requested no DoF and Sully happy to go along with this. However it doesn't take into account that a DoF should shape club style, including the playing style and a manager that fits that and if Sully doesn't get that then he isn't fit to run a football club (but we knew that).

or

2 - Sully and his ego never wanted a DoF and is using Moyes to feed his own gains and keep his grubby mitts in. Again proving why he is totally unfit as a football club owner.

Just another in a long line of Sullivan's 'undelivered ambitions' I guess?

Even if we had appointed someone, it would have all been for show, Sullivan controls the purse strings and wouldn't be able to keep his gruppy midget fingers off player recruitment..

We didn’t have full time scouts before?

Moyes may have control over the targets but we all know who will be lowballing the offers.

I'm not sure the DoF is the answer. Sulli can still apppoint a 'yes' man so it won't necessarily solve any problems except from adding another wage

I'm dissapointed they are planning to keep Moyes to be honest.

Exactly! Unfortunately a majority of our fans can't see this and are renewing despite everything.

Don't get the obsession with DOF's, we had one Nani, less said about that, the better

Sadly for a some fans Premier league football is the be all and end all, so they would renew even if Putin was our owner.

Relegation would hurt them on two fronts, as those fans would be less likely to renew, plus losing the Sky money etc.

But hey, surviving by the skin of our teeth and playing crap football in the bowl, is what it's all about, as long we are in the Premier League.

Judging from a sample size of one is clearly the way forward.

We tried to sign a world class DoF but terms fell through at the last second/another club came in/his current club upped their demands/the non-existent transfer window for executives closed/it was b*llocks to ride out some protests. *
