“From what I can gather Macia was very much in the running and there was some doubts over Husillos recent record however Pellegrini really wanted him. It appears we have backed the manager’s judgment, which for me is a positive start!”

From Ex on Twitter. So it would seem the manager got his man. We can all get our panties out of a bunch now and enjoy the rest of the bank holiday weekend :raver:

Having a DoF will make zero difference, as Sully will still be holding the purse strings.

If the role of Head of Recruitment is to find players, he'll have a big say.
At the moment this role is filled by Sullivan. He will have to walk away. Doing so would make a world of difference.

Finishing every post with his username in capital letters is *possibly* a giveaway that there’s an attention seeking vibe going on with the chap in question.

His “itk” flip flops make him about as credible as David Gold appearing on Mastermind with “African players and their names” as his specialist subject

Bet the geezer is buzzing, seeing that the owners are not interested in him at all. Reckon they are gonna have a great working relationship :thdn: still one of the problems at our club. Too much laundry being aired by nobodies (and the board haha) I wish they would find this guy ex's source and fire him. Would mean we have a new board haha

Going from a convern over recent record to not wanting him at all is a heck of a jump. It makes sense you would express your concerns, have them answered and move forward.

Agree regards ITK leaks though

Is the thread title correct?
Not being pedantic, genuinely interested if we are really committing to a Director of Football....? I thought Dave committed to a Head of Recruitment. There is a HUGE difference.

Reports are saying this Husillos bloke will be announced today.

Anyone seen his recruitment form at Malaga? Worrying.

Sullivan: "Hello Mr Husillos, welcome to the Iconic London Stadium.. This will be your ̶c̶u̶p̶b̶o̶a̶r̶d̶ office, here's a broom, the last bloke started from the top and worked his way down, someone will be back at 4 to pick you up.."

Does a DoF control the financial negotiations or would it still be Sully?

TBH I was hoping someone would say that a DoF always has that responsibility, as i know it'll be Sully. Ultimately it doesn't matter if you scout/identify the best players/prospects if the financial side still gets cocked up.

It's the hope that gets ya

“David, I think we should sign (insert player here). He’s been scouted extensively, would fit in to Manuel’s system perfectly, and is keen to join us. He’ll cost £15m in transfer fees and £50k per week”

‘Thanks Mario, but I’ve been speaking to Barry Silkman, and he has a player on his books, currently playing in league 2 as a winger, but seems pretty confident that he can make the step up and that he can be converted to a centre back. He’ll only cost £75k, and £2k a week in wages, so I’m saving myself over £14m and £48k per week, and getting in a player I’m sure will do just as good a job as the one you’ve recommended. There’s the door”

The fans are very passionate and close to the team.

Er, have you seen the stadium, mate?

If you read the article, he's really been appointed as Head of Recruitment - a direct replacement for Tony Henry.
Any of the other responsibilities that a DoF might have will be covered by Pellegrini or Sullivan, presumably.

Oh come on - the article literally begins 'West Ham United are delighted to announce the appointment of Mario Husillos as the Club’s Director of Football.'

I'm cynical of our owners but it's a positive move. Hopefully he will be allowed to make his own decisions.
