What a mess they're in. The players were violently attacked at a training session and some were injured in the attacks.

An Argentinian journo has said on twitter that all but a few of the players will ask to have their contracts rescinded or terminated. (which if comes to fruition means there will be players available on a free Sully)

Apparently the Sporting players suspect it was their President - the one and only Bruno Carvalho - ordered the attacks on his own players in an attempt to deflect from match fixing allegations.

And according to my Benfica supporting work colleague, after the players refused to back the president in getting the manager sacked (thus saving 7 million euros) after they were all interviewed one by one at length the other week to try and get them to allege malpractice.

Now the players are not training and they have the Portuguese cup final this Sunday so if the players refuse to play or train, Sporting will have to field a youth team.

Just a quick thank you to WCPete for posting the above.

Whilst he never actually said have a bet on it, being the gambler I am, read up on it and had a £40 bet on it @11/2 which returned £260 (£220 profit) as they won 2-1 today.
So cheers Pete and should our path's ever cross, I`ll buy you a beer.

Cheers
