Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
The biggest change with us is that we try to have the mentality of a big team rather than hanging on and respecting the point.
so refreshing after years of fat sam and moyes hanging on or trying not to lose by too many that we actually try and win games.
it will go wrong when we play the better teams but at least we have a go,
GSB were right to get him in . we doubted pelle but he has been superb. one window so far and he has transformed us. shame about the injuries but I reckon we will see plenty of activity in the summer.
new RB, CB, DM, CF to come in
outs perez carroll arnie obiang hughill byram Cullen oxford
Plus he develops youth and gives them hope. Apart from oxford the other young players must see a chance of getting in the first team squad.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
It's actually the perfect marriage, between Pellegrini and what the fans want. There's no one who sees the game differently, all on the same page;
Play to win every game
Extremely attacking, even if it leaves us vulnerable at the back at times
Play quick attractive possession football on the floor
Desire to have as many technically gifted flair players as possible
Ambitious to think like a Big Club mentality
Promote youth academy players as much as possible
It won't be perfect, but crucially nor will the fans expect it to be and will always support what Pellegrini is doing, because the fanbase will appreciate what he's trying to do and in a way that is synonymous to what we think should be the West Ham way. And once you have that chemistry right, it can only breed more and more positivity.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
I expect pelle to further shape his squad in jan and more importantly summer 19. Then we will be ready to have a good go at the top 6
we have a good manager
a good way of playing
we go for the win
60000 home attendance
great away support
in London
only negative I can see is the LS is a ***** bowl but we cant have everything !
he has much to do and needs to squeeze gsb for funding as usual.
needs a new CB especially if ogbonna goes. maybe 2 diop and Balbuena only two as reid is finished I fear
RB needs a replacement for zabaleta
LB needs cover for cresswell as Arthur cant defend well enough
DM if obiang goes needs two new DM . sanchez too old
CF very short in this area as I think pelle will get rid of perez, carroll and possibly Hernandez . 2 new CF needed.
so plenty of change with the following unlikely to be at WHU come next season
carroll perez Hernandez obiang ogbonna hughill Cullen byram oxford Arnie !

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
I decided a while ago to give Pellegrini ten league games to get his feet under the table and the squad working to his plans before really starting to pass judgement on him as our manager, and now that we're 22 games down I'm glad I did - those first ten games had a lot of issues in them, but slowly the team seemed to get more on board. I think our last 12 have been really good, excepting the City loss which hurt as much for it just being too easy for them as the score. The Burnley away game was a tricky one, especially as they seem to have started to get their feet under them, and I thought we were unlucky against Watford as much as anything.
Overall, I think there are good signs there at the moment. Still 16 league games left where we need to keep the form from the last 12 or so and not find ourselves slipping back to the form of the first 10, but our start has been very, very promising.

Given the money spent in the summer and the players at his disposal, even with injuries, this fella is doing a below average job in my opinion.

I appreciate what he is trying to do but it is hard to disagree with this right now.Lovejoy2 wrote:Given the money spent in the summer and the players at his disposal, even with injuries, this fella is doing a below average job in my opinion.

Yes S-H, I'm not saying he's doing a 'bad' job, but he's definitely under achieving, especially after tonights debacle.S-H wrote:Really?

Absolutely awful work tonight. Summed up by starting Andy Carroll and then playing the majority of first half goal kicks short. You're meant to give players a coherent tactical plan, not tell them to 'fackin run about a bit'. Or 'play through central midfield when the opposition has an extra man in there'.
We didn't play our strongest XI but he sent those players out with a plan that was inexplicably clueless.

Hahahahah.... seriously? All my life, we have been doing this... it’s the West Ham way! Still think Pellegrini is the man to take us forward.... we may have spent money last summer but we have under-invested for years. Pellegrini should not be your scape-goat.Lovejoy2 wrote:Given the money spent in the summer and the players at his disposal, even with injuries, this fella is doing a below average job in my opinion.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th manager
Tonight was dire, but given the lack of investment prior to his arrival, a massive injury list including some key first team players, not to mention trying to change the clubs philosophy on and off the pitch, I'd say he was doing a decent job.
How did Klopp do in his first season? How did Pep do?
Time and patience is needed, but surely that goes without saying..

Jesus, you have got it seriously wrong. The board underinvested for years. We have holes all over the squad. We were never going to patch them up in one transfer window.Lovejoy2 wrote:Given the money spent in the summer and the players at his disposal, even with injuries, this fella is doing a below average job in my opinion.

Jesus Christ, Pellegrini you ****ed that up! They were about as motivated from the start as I am about to watch the X factor. Utter shambles tonight and one I feared would go this way if our heads were on it.
You still up for the Cup, Arnautovic..

Mid-table (just), no cup runs, beaten comfortably at home by spurs in the league cup, out of the fa cup now to Wimbledon, would we not have all wanted at the start of the season to be challenging top 7, a decent cup run? I've already said that I'm not saying he's doing bad job I just think we expected slightly better.
