Manuel Pellegrini: West Ham United’s 17th manager

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
A good appointment for West Ham United.
MP is a respected manager at the top level in Europe and should attract some decent players to the club.
Let us start with that fellow from Anderlecht.

Are we/Manuel still bringing in a proper DoF?

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
Great appointment. A proper WHUFC kind of manager who plays attacking football on the floor. A massive upgrade on Moyes and a much better fit.
I await to see his budget before the board get any credit for actually trying to get to the "next level". Signing a big name manager in the hope it will silence any dissention from supporters shouldn't be enough without the corresponding player investment which is ultimately the more expensive bit when getting a new manager in...

Oh no you don't Sully. We don't want to see or hear from you now until this time next year. Write a fat cheque first though.

Agree Hadleigh, but the optimist in me (I hate my optimism in me at times) says - if you spend that much on a manager, then there is no point unless you invest a decent amount in the squad.
Pellegrini must have some idea on budget before signing....

Made up with this, but just an observation, neither of them have a reflection in the mirrormiles wrote:

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
The old cynic in me says season ticket renewals was way less than expected and needed drastic action.
Unless they back him with a transfer kitty of £80 mill + and give him full control it will be the same old story.
There’s a rumour the three muppets are having the old red routemaster m.o.t.‘ed as we speak, getting it ready to throw him under.
I really hope i’m wrong and they have finally had a change of heart and give us a quality team as promised, but.........

He must have done his homework before getting off the plane, so lets hope he has assurances that all the owner is going to do is fund new signings.Possibly

Welcome Senor Pellegrini and I hope you are measured by your style of football rather than your haircut.
You are following a great line of West Ham managers such as Glenn Roeder, Lou Macari, Sam Allardyce and Kevin Keen, but more importantly Ron Greenwood and John Lyall, both of whom you would have got on very well with.
Cant wait for August and looking forward to the summer activity.

Anyway, under the circumstances a bit of decent effort to get a bloke of this callibre in and quickly. Best of luck to him.

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
An observation.
We've announced the highest profile managerial signing this club has ever made.
Possibly the highest profile signing full stop.
The owners (Sullivan in particular) have promised to shut up and let the people they employ to deal with football run the show.
Quotes from the new manager in that announcement....

It's still all about Dave.

Looks like the new boss is on Twitter...
Which is surprising, He's updated his profile already.

Let's hope he can get the best out the sort of signings Sullivan will saddle him with.........
Wish him well. He is going to need it!

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
You’d certainly think people will have their eye on what we’re doing now. Different class to Moyes / Allardyce so now people will be wondering if we can finally achieve that ‘potential’ we had when we moved to the OS. Just hoping there is some American investment trickling in behind the scenes! Time will tell, but it’s very positive

Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
I’ve just renewed on the strength of this. Still won’t relent on the owners though. Where’s the money?...that’s what I would like to jolly well know. Pardon?
Re: Manuel Pellegrini West Ham United’s 17th new manager
I hate Sullivan, but thought the piece was standard. The chairman of the club is announcing the appointment on behalf of West Ham then MP will give his big interview at 10 or whateverDanny's Dyer Acting wrote:It's still all about Dave.
